Does that closed cell foam stuff smell like Dynamat used to? I put a whole bunch of Dynamat all over my car once and it didn't make much of a difference in the road noise but it made a huge difference in rattles. The issue I had, and this was a LONG time ago, was it smelled awful. I want something that wont ruin the smell of my car, to put on my doors, door panels, and perhaps a dynamat type product to put behind and around the door speaker.

Anyone have sound recordings of audible noise before and after installation? If not, is there a marked difference? I have no experience with this media and would like to explore sound deadening application. Thank you!

I have a box of second skin damplifier pro being delivered today, install sometime this week if i can fit it in before my next trip. Not sure how good of a before/after audio clip i can do, but i will record my 5 min drive home today and then will be able to roughly repeat that clip once installed. I have a custom muffler delete made by a fellow forum member, and it drones pretty bad sometimes.

I'm very curious to see how your trunk-only install turns out, as my SRT headerback is also quite droney. I've been debating using the GTMat for addressing plastic rattling in the front doors and dash and Peel & Seal for the trunk since there's no need to worry about adhesive failing when gravity isn't tugging it anywhere. |

Just the trunk area for now, if it makes a really big difference but not quite enough ill go further, but i have a feeling the trunk should be enough for my purposes

So i used my phone to record a video while driving last night for a "before" audio, and it picked up the drone along w what sounds like a raspy clicking sound, which is not actually heard in person, so due to the db and pitch of the drone i think the mic is not picking it up well :/

I kept focusing on work and kept forgetting to take pics. Till i was done, every inch of white in the second pic has been covered. I also did the majority of the beam under the rear deck/ 3rd brake light and into the wheel wells. Im not done w the trunk lid but had to call it a night, and i can get to that with out taking anything apart so itll be an easy fix. As for the effect, i have not driven it far since, so i may come back and add comments, but the cruising drone has minimized a fair amount, however WOT seems to be the same. It has "cleaned" up the noise coming in through the trunk, so it is less harsh to the ears, and has minimized the couple rattles i had when letting off the gas from 5k down to 2k, i now have 1 rattle somewhere left to find... My 16sq ft i ordered weighed 14lbs, and i used a little over half. If anyone is curious as to sq ft or weight. I would suggest 10+ sq ft to be safe (just the deck lid, rear deck underside, entire spare tire floor area, and wheel wells. Basically everything behind the rear seats) for doors, under seats, roof, obviously you would need alot more. |

Might want to also take a look at www.sounddeadenershowdown.com
There are some pretty comprehensive articles on how sound deadening should be approached to minimize and even kill sound. A buddy of mine used the suggested methods on his project car (AE86) and it's made a dramatic difference.
