It's not always the purely the weight, or purely the power. But, it's more about the power to weight ratio.
However, one could argue that the 911 and M3 are built more for stability at high speeds due to the autobahn than they are built for nimbleness on tight and twisty mountain roads.

^ this911 and the M3 are great sports cars but they do make more power. What defines a great sports car is it's p/w ratio but what makes a great driver is his/her ability to utilize that p/w ratio to their maximum capabilities.

My old car:
1. ![]() Traded her in for: 2. ![]() And now drive this one lol: 3. ![]() The genesis coupe doesn't even come close to the 370z, both cars are good but the Z by far performs better than my genesis did (had the 3.8 gt). Now when it comes to a daily driver I pick my evo over all of them, than the genesis, than the Z. I could write a bunch more on pros and cons on all of them but I might just do that in a different thread some time when it has to deal with all the cars, sorry I brought the evo into this as well, just thought I'd mention what I am currently driving and that I have had the other ones that have been mentioned in this thread. Now with all that being said I hope the fr-s is not a disappointment and is worth the 22k+ when it comes out lol. |

![]() lol I do understand what you're saying. I've actually been following the Lambda engine since they launched the GC. They took the 290hp v6 engine from the GSedan changed the intake valve timing, intake camshafts, gave it slightly more aggressive exhaust valve springs, pistons, rods, and oil pumps and put that in the GC. They're two different engines. For the 2012MY they upped the compression ratio and added GDI to squeeze out another 43hp. You're saying, by upping the CR and adding GDI to the GC's v6 will give it the same 43hp the GSedan got making it ~349hp. Right? That's assuming they didn't take any of the changes from the GC's v6 over to the new GSedan's v6. For arguments sake, lets say they get 349hp(+43hp) out of the 2012 GC v6. My original point was "we expect only modest gains" in comparison to the v6's gains. How would gaining 67hp from the i4t be modest in comparison to gaining 43hp in the v6? Modest is not the adjective I would use when talking about putting the 274hp Sonata i4t in the GC.

![]() The only thing, performance wise, to get excited about with the FR-S until we get some actual numbers... is the weight that we still don't even know. lol Looking at that overlay of the FRS and GC really makes me curious about the FRS' rear seats and how tall guy friendly the front seats will be. It's overall dimensions are almost identical to my RX, but I don't have a back seat. |

Ahhhhh the more power vs less weight argument again. As an appropriate precursor to the next proceedings...

I plan to bring this car to the track at least 2-3/month so I don't need anything expensive and high end b/c I plan to beat this thing up. Quote:
I still think the FRS in a different class than the GC; subcompact group. The GC group is the Mustang, Camaro, Z group...

Nah, the GC is the only real sports vehicle Hyundai has until the Veloster turbo comes around, so I suppose it'll be their halo sports car, but their halo car was the Genesis Sedan until the Equus was released.
