Arguably, that probably was filmed with a DSLR like a T2i or T3i. But I can't really tell if it looks full-frame or not, so it could have been a 5D or something...

The owner of the vid posted in the comments that it was filmed with a T3i.

However, in order to reach the Six Sigma quality metric, what kind of extra verification is required for each individual case in order to attain this success? That is where I am coming from. It is nice to set the goal of Six Sigma, but how are you going to achieve this without costs or resources? This requires time/money/resource/people buy-in/etc and the most important question is: is your government willing to do that?

True, Six Sigma is not about the numbers, it is about how to improve the process to get to that number. But, one thing that is not mentioned here is whether the government is willing to make this change, or is there any driving force to get them moving to improve themselves.

I think the government officials should know the management tricks and techniques of how to improve their internal process. However, they really need first to understand where they stand in terms of error rate, find the root-cause of the problem, and then propose improvement plan and see if they can get the funding to carry out such a plan. Then execute it and analyze the result to realize the saving.

PS: Let put this into perspective. In 2008 the payout of Old-Age and Survivors Insurance and Federal Disability Insurance fund was 615.3 Billion (page 5 of the report: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/TR/2009/tr09.pdf). With 3.4 / 1 million error rate, that is $2,092,020 error that is allowed for six sigma. In one of your article (not there anymore from CNN), there seems to be a saying of $180,000 of wrong payment. That number is one magnitude below than the tolerance. Would you then say the SSA is actually operating within Six Sigma of their process so nothing needs to be done?
True. However, it also depends one what variable you're using and defining as an "error". For instance if anything is processed incorrectly is considered an "error" than that is 1 error towards the 3.4 errors. If the overall variable that is interested in is the overall monetary amount, then it is the number that you mentioned above.

I think that I probably should have made my origianal post more so about implementing better quality control or process improvement instead of dropping the term "six sigma".

The intent was to present the idea that the government should place more focus on quality control and process improvement to avoid things that were in the articles.

I can venture to say that there is very little process/production that couldn't benefit from a DMAIC process.

Anyways... at this point this isn't a random thought anymore. lol. So we should probably stop the discussion in this thread.

I really feel for you guys in NY and NJ. I hope relief comes soon, power is restored, and you can all go about your lives as normal. I know a lot of heartache is going around up there right now. Keep your head up.

Word is LIPA is now saying they wont get power back till sometime after thanksgiving. I'm driving over there now and picking up my friends-I got a full tank with 0 wait(Normally you would have to wait up to 2-3hours maybe more, I think the odd/even days are helping, either that or I just got plain lucky)
I'm also one of the lucky ones who still have power and heat-there's no way I can let my friends suffer for this song.
This is bullshit! LIPA is corrupt!
