There is no money in Perrin products. Cost for dealers is a LOT higher than that, unfortunately, for everyone. As a whole us vendors make a LOT less on stuff than you imagine. This industry is very funny like that.

What kind of cost/margin/volume do you guys look for in exhausts?

As a business always as much as possible, some brands have more than others.

Perrin is one of those brands that there is little profit in for regular dealers, really nice stuff though.

He has been telling me the last three days he is bringing it for me and fails to every morning lol... I can't find one anywhere around... I'm the first to admit when I'm wrong, but damn I'm sure they said it was.. It's good because that is the exhaust I want

So basically if your cost was $550 on their exhausts you would be a very happy guy?

It's funny to see how much emphasis some people put on the exhaust system for a 2.0 NA car. Pipe is just "Pipe".

total-830 bucks

Ark exhaust 1150.

Still leaves me enough to get a the invidia catless front pipe if it works and im hoping to get at least 13+hp from just the bolt ons and the extra 15-20hp from the e85..ill be happy
One thing I considered when purchasing an exhaust is forced induction support. Next year I'll probably be going with the AVO Stage 1 turbo kit. I honestly don't think muffler deletes will provide as much flow as a headerback exhaust. Just some food for thought.

@ brichard0625, that looks like a great budget setup. The e85 tune might run rough in the winter though.

Yea i was going to go turbo but i think im going to save some money and maybe pop the question to a lucky lady soon...So i was thinking of staying N/A for now. Not going to get e85 until about feb march when the weather is a little warmer but by march i plan on having exhaust/header/intake/e85/and few cosmetics...hoping to spend no more than $2500 for everything

I was just at Vivid racing a couple days ago to purchase a Seibon hood, and Whiteline rear sway bar when i got to talk to the manager of Agency Power. He took me around to the back of the garage and showed me that they have 3 guys working back there welding up the AP cat back exhausts in an effort to get them out to customers who have ordered, while they are waiting for the Chinese manufacturer to finish up their production. I was in the shop when they were still prototyping the damn exhaust too, running back to back dyno's in an effort to get gains from the exhaust.

Agency Power is a small AMERICAN company, they don't have the facilities to produce these exhausts in bulk, so they send a design they made to a Chinese manufacturer to make in bulk. When the Chinese manufacturer finishes a copy they send it back to the States to be tested and confirmed for quality. I've seen the hand made in the VR shop exhausts back to back with the Chinese production ones and you couldn't tell the difference. If there were companies in America that could manufacture these parts for the same amount of money and as quickly as the Chinese can, I am sure that's where these would be manufactured, but you can thank our unions and taxes for making it hard to make a profit here in America.

Also considering that AP has such a small workforce, they also cater to a lot of other brands of cars from Scions to Ferrari's and Lambo's. So get off your high horse, when you start your own business and become successful then maybe you can talk about the business practices of a small American company. Until then I would suggest you come to Phoenix so you can vist the VR/AP shop yourself. They are some of the best people I have ever dealt with concerning parts for my toys.

That being said I don't have an AP exhaust either, I'm getting a P&L full exhaust to go along with my P&L Stage 1 turbo that's in the mail. I am not a fanboy of AP or VR for that matter I just get sick of the internet know it alls that don't know anything other than what the other internet tough guys have to say.

If you don't like the AP power gains don't buy them, no one is forcing you. All you do is sound like a petulant child who parrots the beliefs of others without doing any research yourself.

Feel free to respond so that I can shoot holes through your rhetoric once again, I love the opportunity to educate the ignorant.
Yes different dynos show different gains but more then one person has dyno'd it and all show SIMILAR results. When 3-4 people dyno that exhaust and they all show the same results which are just a little off from each other. While Vivid/AP's are not even close then that should be a huge red flag already. Are your really going to base everything off the vendors dynos? Hell we all see what Vivid/AP has tried to do in the first 2 posts and were called out. I would never trust a companies dynos. Only 1 or 2 companies on this site I would really take their word for. So far everyone has dyno;d there cat back not one person has even gotten similar results as their dyno they posted. No gains across the whole dyno. Just 5-6 WHP at its peak. Which is not what you should be getting.

I am not buying their crap because I have already had a bad experience with them. As have a lot of other people just because you had a good experience with them doesnt mean everyone else is going to. Otherwise they wouldnt still be in business if they just pissed everyone off. It would seem like one out of 10-20 people have good experiences with them otherwise you wouldnt see them unable to post on any major forums as vendors. Their is a big reason why that is. It isnt just one reason. Go check out NASIOC and other major subaru forums. All of them have them banned for lying, cheating, and bad business practices from all their customers. Their s a 60 page thread with half of them being bad reviews and stories of bad experiences. I forget what part it was but it was a part from Greddy. They bought the part then copied it and began selling it as their own part. They removed Greddys item from their site while labeling their own Agency Power. Almost everything was the same maybe 1 minor adjustment. People like them are the ones who put out the smaller business's out of business, the ones who put lots of R&D in their products then a company like Vivid buys it and copies it. Selling it for a fraction of the cost.

If you are buying their parts then their is a good chance you will get it on time. But if you want to buy a part from them that is from another company then good luck. They will tell you its in stock then order it from the company it self without telling you and it can be delayed as long as 2 months until you get your part. Other companies do the same thing but they dont charge you and let you know before that they have to do that. This has happened TONS of times with many people. Even one time someone even said they got charged and extra 300 for a body kit because they said that company charges 300 PER Side skirt, he called them to confirm it and they said that was not true after Vivid told them that. Just one of many examples of shady practices they do.

You probably have never heard of people getting bad exhausts from them. People have said they have had bad fitting cat backs and many more other bad things about them. Good chance that they have bad fitting exhausts is because they were made in China and were never tested out. Otherwise they wouldnt of been known for such bad quality/fitting exhausts. The fact that they charge what Perrin charges for their exhausts when they get it for less then hundred bucks an exhaust. Old moderators from Vivid Racing forums have posted screen shots of there shipping logs and MANY other things from their company. A lot of things that killed there reputation such as cost of production per part, parts being sent from Taiwan, and a lot of things that had to do with Dan the owner of Vivid. Their use to be a site called Vivid Racing Sucks with tons of stories of bad times with them. It got taken down because Dan threatened to sue them.

Lots of things were found out about Vivid that many people suspected were true. Dan use to make knock off parts from really well known companies who R&D'd there products and then would sell them as his own. This was during the 90s when the b16-b18s were very popular. They produced good gains but when newer engines like the K series were released he was caught red handed selling parts that produced little to no gains. Now that parts have gotten so much more complex then before he cant do that anymore. Which is why you dont see them performing as well as they say. It is no surprise that this happened. The same thing that are happening on these forums have happened on other forums eventually leading to their bannings.

I am not going to support that company. After having a bad experience with them. I would not want to see anyone else also have to go through the bullshit I have because of how they treat their customers. They simply dont care about anything in this scene and just want to make money. Even if it means to lie/cheat.

So are the high flow cats showing the same gains as these track pipes that delete the cat?

Did they test any high flow cats?

i paid 150 shipped for my berk with tip.... it will be easier to unload this than a full exhaust system if you go FI.
just imagine how many more exhausts will be out in a year... id rather have something that sounds good currently and buy a full system when going FI... you can always sell it.
