Might be wrong but I think they already switch the driveshaft.

Just because its a 2 piece driveshaft doesn't mean its not strong enough or up to the task of putting the power down. I am sure that there will be a stronger aftermarket driveshaft developed in the future. Generally, when exerting more force on a driveshaft than it was ever designed for they twist and in most cases just beat up the tunnel. It's uncommon for a driveshaft to have a complete failure, where as, if a UJOINT fails, it can get very ugly. There have been some very high hp cars that run a 2pc driveshaft without any problems and at very high speeds as well (think 1000+hp and over 200mph in a standing mile). Primary concerns for driveshafts are quality of materials, balance, weight and proper angles for all of the joint. Not saying the OEM driveshaft can take 500+hp all day long but it may have no problems at all.

Isn't the u-joints , carrier bearing , and yoke parts of the drive shaft as a whole?,.....thats my point. I'm from the Mustang world recent convert to a FRS, driveshafts are a weak link in the highly modded modern mustang. I'm just questioning the design limit of the driveshaft (as a whole,u-joints and all ) when ur upping the torque and HP, to not just 50% but three X factory stock,.....just curious if they are still running stock, thats all

They very well could be. idk for sure tho. I consider them all different parts tho, as its possible to upgrade some and not others, but if you were to upgrade them all there is no doubt you'd have a stronger setup. I really think that the relatively low torque and progressive nature of the turbo setups helps the rest of the driveline stay intact. Yes... they make some great hp/torque but it's not a massive "surge" of power... it's progressive and isn't making 400 ft-lbs at 1700 rpms or anything. Plus the relatively light weight of the car reduces stress on the drivetrain. A lot harder to get almost 4k lbs moving in a mustang than this 2700lb car, less intertia.

PST makes a single piece Carbon shaft. i wouldnt be suprised if it can take all sorts of power and 10.2lbs less weight than the factory 2 piece. a bit pricey though looks like a quality piece. be my next mod, in the new year sometime.

Coming from the engineering and the mustang world, I can tell you this drive shaft should last any amount of power that 90% of us are going to be throwing at it. With that saidd, anytime you are modding a car, you run the risk of things breaking. Just grab a ds safety loop and be on your way.

I also came from the mustang side, and this drive shaft has better qualities, does not take the surge of tq immediately and is not hauling a boat. The only thing I would be worried about is the ds binding under extreme conditions, causing it to lose its hardened properties and would cause the ds to resonate and potentially break.

In all reality, you should be able to hear if it ever needs replaced, long before any mechanical damage would occur with the level of power most of us are putting down

Enough of the driveshaft talk. When will we see some more developments, videos, commentary on the setup? Updates please.

Thanks Don ! , I knew this would be something you would be looking at. Had to fight off all the knuckle heads.....should of just called you.....btw I haven't installed your turbo yet, I'm installing Arias forged pistons lowering compression to 9 to 1 and forged rods,.... maybe over kill, but I will be able to run full boost on pump gas.
