What would your ultimate OEM FR-S/BRZ be?

If you could design your own FR-S/BRZ and have it built at the factory, how would it be equipped? Keep in mind I'm not talking about adding aftermarket stuff afterwards (yes, we can all do that), I'm just trying to determine what people would like to see right off the showroom floor.

For me, the list is short:

1. Factory turbocharger (a small, twin-scroll design)
2. Lower ride height (nothing extreme, maybe 1.5 inches lower)
3. 18" wheels with wider/lower profile tires (maybe something like 245/40/18 or so)

That's it! Give me those three things and I'd buy the car in a heartbeat and probably keep it 100% stock because it would be perfect.

Luxury car interior without adding weight. That would be awesome.

Supercharger and armrest. I love everything else just the way it is.

-Any method to get at least an extra 50 WHP out of the engine with relatively low end higher torque, esp in the area currently flat. Supercharger?

-Wider wheels by say ~1.5" with real sticky performance tires.

-Adjustable suspension height/camber/dampers like some better coilovers offer in case I want to change that

-Better quality cloth (that's right, I said cloth) seats model specific

-Matching lighting colour theme throughout the dash (I think that was an oversight in design due to raiding the Subaru parts bin)

-Slightly better speakers INCLUDING subwoofer

-Factory HID w/ LED's like the int'l version 86

-Slightly more noticable exhaust, with larger tips.

-Full door and console padding

-Slightly higher spec brake diameter.

-Latest intake swirl development we have recently heard of

-model-specific taillight assy (not clear lens)

-Low key spoiler/tail (5:AD?)

I am sure there is more but this offered for $35K in Canada would have been a no-brainer for me. Probably wishful but who knows.

Hatchback like this:

design by ichitaka05

Add more back seat space.

Add more engine options:
1: 2l NA (like today)
2: 1,6 turbo, 180hp, 250nm, 145g CO2
3: 2l SC, 270hp, 350nm - Toyota only
4: 2l turbo 300hp, 400nm - Subaru only

Add more colors:
-Yellow
-Green
etc..

Make the car available with OEM options from factory without extreme pricing:
-Lowering springs
-Coilovers
-Track/street brake pads (on stock rotors)
-Big brake kit
-More wheel and tire options
-Lightweight sports exhaust
-Body parts (wing, CF roof, CF mirrors etc)

Give me the hatcback, maybe in green if it looks cool (like the one at SEMA). 1,6 turbo and all top-end performance options!

Great topic choice. I'm currently holding out on my FRS purchase in hopes some new options will be available for the 2014 model (I was told early 2014 delivery on 2013 models so may as well wait for the 2014 model).

The way I'd like it built.

- I'll take the headlights from the 86' Version with HID's/LED's
- Armrest that works for both occupants and matches interior
- Stripper Model - No A/C, Stereo Delete, OE Sound deadening removal, Manual windows, ect. (Not 100% sure I'd go this route but I'd like the option just in case)
- Motor Upgrade options for larger factory built performance engines (larger displacement, varying compression options for boost or NA)
- Option for FI either Turbo or SC - power dependant on the induction method

Items that I can sort out if the factory neglects to address the issues:
- Larger rim and tire combo with a stickier tread compound
- BBK w/stainless brake lines
- Adjustable Suspension both height/dampening and adj. swaybars
- Full Lip Kit - usually prefer factory but wouldn't shy away from aftermarket at all

There are more but these are the biggest concerns. I can sort most of them out through the aftermarket but it will be interesting to see what the Twins offer in 2014.

That is basically the BMW M coupe from a few years ago. It is possible to get a car like that for similar or maybe a bit more money! Second hand, if you can locate one for sale. Reminds me of the "Harold & Maude" Jag.

BTW here's the car that I think secretly inspired the look of the twins, including the tail lights:

I love the M Roadster but it does not have any back seats. So misses out on the practical bit..

The backseats that are currently in the BRZ/FR-S aren't very practical either.

Without touching fundamental things such as engine and suspension (which are already veeery good), just simple things which would make the car much better for me:

CRITICAL

- ARMREST. Any kind of OEM armrest which looks OK, covers that HOLE in the middle of the car and provides rest to the arm!

- Audio controls on the wheel - PLEASE! Remove that stupid useless cruise control and give me instead at least 3 buttons: volume up/down and "next" for shuffling radio stations/tracks.

WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE

- Rear parking sensors or camera
- Sunglasses holder
- Rain sensor/automatic wipers
- Heated driving wheel/front window (very useful for Russian winters )

In addition to cruise control happy to sacrifice what they call "back seats" and headlights washers (or whatever those useless things called).

Such little modification would make GT 86 really perfect for me.

Turbocharger and other "extra" stuff - leave it for TRD and 3rd parties. Fix the basics.

I know. I managed to squeeze three of my buddies into it tough.
Thats why I wrote:

With a hatcback the headrooom would be fixed. And with just a couple of small cm/inches more legroom it would be usable for adults.

I look at this car from the point of view that as a performance car, anything that does not contribute to the performance of the vehicle is an unnecessary luxury that increases cost and weight. Gadgets and buttons, in my humble opinion, tend to be a distraction from driving and the pleasure I derive from it. More stuff in the car is more stuff that can break or malfunction. I like it simple, spartan, and clean; I love the car for the car, not the comfort.

But seriously, WTH is up with no armrest?
