why? Ait to air is what I prefer for heavy duty use. Its whats on my other two turbo cars.

Pro’s of a water cooled intercooler system

1.Really good efficiency, so the size of the intercooler can be smaller.

2.Efficiency can be exaggerated by using ice, or other chemicals to produce normally un-realistic temperatures for short amounts of time.

3.Can be mounted anywhere along the charge piping route.

Con’s

1.Requires a lot of other accessories to work right.

2.Because it is more complex, it naturally causes more opportunity for problems, like leaks.

3.Can become heat soaked when used for long periods of hard driving and become terribly in-efficient and stop working completely.

Something that sized can be had for much less than an air to air that covers the whole front grille

Thats not to say air to air doesnt have its give an take either:
Pro’s

1.Requires no power to work and therefore is easy to set up.

2.Requires no liquids to work and therefore no chances for leaks .

3.Doesn’t suffer from heat-soak as long as the intercooler is seeing good airflow.

Con’s

1.Efficiency is only as good as the ambient air temperature.

2.Efficiency is only as good as the amount of airflow the intercooler see’s.

3.Cannot be mounted anywhere, since it must be mounted in a location to see airflow.

dont take my word for it, read where I got this from here, the conclusion is at the bottom of the page of the article linked below, you can form your own decisions, price to performance choices can be critical with these components. This is a nice kit, prolly fine for DD in northern latitudes. Just not for me where I drive it hard when its triple digits outside. Thanks for letting me learn about it.

http://www.enginebasics.com/Advanced...tercooler.html

Air to air can leak just not in the same way. With the additional pipping required it makes a hard to troubleshoot boost leak more possible.

Also to consider is the additional pipping can cause unwanted lag in a small displacement engine. Since a lot of the turbo kits have lots of pipping and hard bends it should be something factored in your decision. Subaru used top mount intercoolers for a reason.

That pricing is right where I want it to be. I just need to know when and where I can order one. After my buddy got a Terminator a month ago, I have been loving the idea of this kit. Now to see if I can get a Killer Chiller to work with it.

Looks good, all the discussion is making me dizzy. Ill just wait for someone(SHOP) to install it and run it. Lets see how much power it makes, how cool it sounds and what kind or wtq curve it gives us, as well as how reliably it behaves. In for updates.

Me too! Impressive. That's an $850 to $1000 value on its own! Liking the sound of this more and more!

Is there going to be an option for those that already have an ECUtek cable and license and simply would just need the tune?

That is a significant point in your favor. If I already have a cable/license can that be discounted from the price?

You will be able to purchase a version of each kit without the ECUTEK cable if you already have your own, and wish to obtain a custom tune through a local shop yourself. They will be cheaper then the complete kits, but I do not have final pricing on them quite yet.

Thanks. I'm hoping you'll still supply a tune, just not the cable/license which is typically a $600 cost that some of us have already spent to use other ECUtek tunes.

EDIT- Innovative beat me to it.

I'm sure they'd be willing to work something out for those people who already own the ECUTek cable.

I think there is some confusion to how ECUtek does this:

1. Cable $250 does nothing by itself, but if you have 2&3 you can install/datalog tunes

2. License for your ECU. One per ECU, $350. required to do everything including datalogging.

3. Tune - supplied by a ECUtek professional tuner. Vary from $50-300.

You must have 2 and 3 to have ANY ECUtek tune. So if I bought this SC kit, I would only need #3. So saying you don't need the cable doesn't cover the important aspect of wanting the OE developed tune by then vendor rather than a start from scratch one done by a 3rd party. Another vendor offers their kit with just #3, the tune. I'm hoping Innovate would perhaps offer the same model as for some (and maybe its just few) of us it would work nicely.

EDIT: I wanted to add I'm a huge fan of this product. I'm trying not to be a pest, I promise you I say this honestly as a possible customer and perhaps part of a customer base of early adopters of tunes that might go this route.
