So would you consider me "rice" or "smart" out something else entirely?

As an Asian person that loves to eat rice and even grows my own rice in my backyard, I find this post highly offensive.

I am sure your "rice patties" are flooded completely now.

That's just silly. 99.9% of the general population and probably 99.99% of the enthusiast population would never consider the Boss 302 as rice. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but you also need to realize that you're in the minority in a HUGE way.

Check your history on this one buddy, there's a reason we only had 13 and 14 inch rims...then 14 and 15's and so on and such forth...used to be that there wasn't good enough rubber to need bigger brakes....the times they are a changing.....and no there doesn't need to be less than 1/2 inch, brake rotors need effective space to discharge heat into radially, with un-obstructed flow. bottom line a 19" and an 17" rim tire combo with the same tread width have very different sidewall characteristics and unsprung weights, and there is a reason race cars aren't running 35 series tires and dubs. (again keep in mind im not saying these things aren't visually appealing)
Wow, where should I start with this one? LOL. Okay, first of all, are you trying to tell me that tire technology has dictated brake size? Or are you saying that brake size has dictated wheel size? You're not very clear with your opinion there. Before you answer, please realize that physical brake size (swept area of the rotors and even caliper/pad size) has very little to do with braking distances. If anything, a larger brake system is more about the ability to reduce fade with repeated hard stops, which is most often something encountered on the track, not on the street. And since we're generalizing about street cars here, you have to realize that a smaller brake system often stops just as well as a larger one (all else equal) when you're talking about the ability to stop in an emergency.

Either way, you said that anything with larger wheels than necessary (as dictated by the brake size) is rice. Last time I checked, if your brake system diameter is, say, 14", you'd need a wheel with more than a 14" inner diameter. If that means you'd need an 18" wheel, then that's what you'd need. If that car comes with a 19" wheel, you think that makes it rice

As far as your "race car tires" comment, sorry, but it just doesn't hold air. First, we're talking about street cars, not race cars. Secondly, race cars is a pretty general description. There are various different kinds of race cars and they all use different tires that are suited to their exact application (which generally aren't for street use). Drag cars, NASCAR cars, rally cars, drift cars, etc..all use specific tires. Why would anyone expect them to use wheels/tires similar to what we use on the streets these days? Sorry, but that's beyond silly.

That's no more rice than a Teriyaki bowl......i mean look at that outrageous paint color and those aftermarket 32" rims with 12 series tires......I bet your calipers have hello kitty caliper covers too, and i (ofcourse) assume that has a 1.2 liter Na gas motor from a pedestrian motorcycle......

Ofcourse it's rice remember everything is rice :happy0180:
Yeah, that's right. In your mind, EVERYTHING is rice. But I was looking for you to give me one good reason why you thought my car was rice too. I mean, it doesn't have an outrageous color, no stickers, no spoilers, or any of the other silly stuff you mentioned. Keep in mind that I honestly couldn't care less whether you think it's rice or not, I was just asking you because I was interested to see what you'd come up with as a reason. Good to know that you didn't come up with anything other than to make an attempt at a humorous remark, I guess.

If you have to ask yourself, "Is this rice?" It is probably at least a little bit rice.

Not much of this thread makes much sense. Just about the only thing I understand is that everyone has their own opinions on what constitutes rice.

Good enough for me on both accounts! :happy0180:

That reminds me of a discussion a few weeks ago where some people insisted that quick and fast mean exactly the same thing and the rest of us tried in vain to explain the difference
