a car purchased outside CA will not be covered by CA's lemon law. an out of state purchaser will need to seek lemon law relief in the state where the car was purchased. check out cummins, inc. v. superior court, 36 cal.4th 478 (2005).

Oh, that's no good. I'd never used the lemon law except for that time I almost did with a Mitsu Mirage Turbo. The transmission seemed a bit week for the torque and kept breaking down. But they eventually did fix it.

Then I also had a brand new X5 that keep leaning towards the left. After alignments, tire rotations, wheel rotations, the dealer was baffled and thus offered me $1k off any other car off the lot. Thank God the car was new and I noticed the drifting.

Hopefully the CEL is not a lemonish issue.

that sucks, but CO and CA lemon laws are fairly similar. CA lemon law can be invoked in the first 18 months, whereas CO lemon law only in the first 12 months.
You could also bring suit under the federal Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act.

Hopefully it won't ever come to that, I have faith that Subaru will do the right thing if there are issues with the first 2013MY cars.

Haha...let's keep my fingers crossed my car is not the 5%, in case of lemon, I will see how can I get a replacement from SOA because I like the car too much!

heh the BRZ is not my only car, so if mine went lemon on me, I would say this. "Look, I know you're developing a BRZ STi or BRZ Turbo. Put me at the front of the preorder queue and we're good."

I almost joined the CO>CA Cartel but up here in WA, I had a deposit on a WRB MT6 Limited that is intransit to be delivered at Shortline Subaru in Aurora CO on Nov 15th which I was all set to ship here to WA, but out of sheer luck someone backed out of a Lightning Red MT6 Limited at a local dealer here in Seattle and I went to check it out and fell in love with it and brought it home with me this weekend like a kid surprised on Xmas morning...

But this means if anyone is still looking for for a WRB MT6 Limited, Shortline Subaru has one available and coming in Nov 15th (next week), if interested you should contact Tom Pluemer (Internet Sales Manager) he was great to work with setting up my order and I would have bought from him if the local BRZ had not shown up out of nowhere to come home to my garage this weekend...

My refund of $578.31 from CA DMV arrived today in mail, therefore I can say I buy it at MSRP shipped plus CA fees and tax. Not too interested to pull my calculator and paperwork and go over every penny...because I am driving and enjoying my car now but not on that forever waiting list!

You should post an incoming car thread in the CO thread to give a local the heads up if you haven't already done it.

I had looked for a CO incoming car thread and hadn't spotted one (probably because they have so many available there), but good point I posted it in the main forum thread in case anyone is looking for it.

Well, I placed a deposit for a red limited with Doug Gleason at Mike Shaw. It is supposed to be arriving around Turkey day or so. I paid a hundred more for a shipper they work with so that I don't have to worry about picking one without any assurances. Driving it back would have been great but I find that I crave comfort in a long trip. I suspect the BRZ will not be super ideal for a long drive plus I want any road rashes on my new baby before it is broken in.

Congrats! It's actually a fairly good car for long drives IMHO, but you will see for yourself when you get the car.

Cashier check fedex with all signed docs. They will take time to clear the check before ship car.
