I don't hear anyone criticizing Ferrari ($200k California)

Audi ($120-$200k R8)

Lamborghini ($400k Murcielago)

or Bugatti for that matter (yes... THAT Bugatti.. the $1M Veyron)

Just to put into perspective the ridiculous argument that people who chose to beat Toyota/Lexus into a corner make.

That pic is different. In the IS-F there is a separation area that you can put your hands through. In the Lamborghini's case it's attached but the tip of the exhaust is wider than the pipes. One is attached and the other isn't.

Haven't you guys seen what happens with the exhaust tip is near the bumper.

Besides, thats OEM stuff so there is probably some emissions or sound related reason why they spaced it.

FWIW (and Jay's salesman is totally right if it's the case)

Quote:
During testing of the IS-F, they originally had a classic twin tip can design but at high speeds the car became
so unstable because of the turbulence that developed in that area of the car. The test drivers told the engineers
that they needed to change something to make it more stable at higher speeds. So, through testing they now
have the current configuration of quad stacked exhaust tips with diffuser panels around them and air foils under
the trunk belly. This significantly changes the air flow in that area of the car and made it much more stable at high speeds.

Could be a total marketing spin, but the aerodynamic reasoning is sound.

Regards bitches.

There ya go! It's funny folks will downplay it as if it's a design flaw!

Yeah, that is a bitch. I can't tell you how many bottles of Meguiar's Scratch-X I've gone through removing the carbon residue that clings to the bumper of my RX. I had to extend the muffler over an inch to help reduce it.

That's pretty interesting, I found a picture of the shroud around the stacked tips.

Definitely an ingenious solution to their turbulence problem.

But back to the FR-S, I really hope they don't have quad exhaust tips. A dual exhaust on a 2.0l 4cylinder is stretching it as it is, please don't screw the car's aerodynamics up so much that you have to resort to the same sorry solution as the IS-F. Although, it really doesn't matter. I hope to have the factory exhaust on ebay within a few weeks of owning it anyway.

Could stick on a piece of 3M paint protection film to avoid staining the bumper cover. Or Frog Tape for a ghetto fix.

Back to topic (quick break from looking for a damn garage-less apartment).

Some Canadians dealers are going to try to screeeeew buyers of this car. Take these examples:

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/pm...515675795.html

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/pm...480618617.html

OVER $30K and $33K FOR TC'S WITH COSMETIC OPTIONS!!!!!!!

And remember our money is about 5-6% MORE than the US.

However there are still legit dealers it seems:

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/va...529800461.html

This is pretty much bang-on what the website says. A touch under $21k.

So lesson to Vancouver area Canadians:

Open Road Toyota in Port Moody wants to have rough, un-protected bum-sex with you.

Jim Pattison Scion downtown is playing nice.

Hmmm.. this is the thing to check before going to the dealer.

Having said that, just by looking at the pictures I wonder if the interior settings for FT-86 would be the same as those in tC? If that is the case, it is probably not too bad for a 22K car. Furthermore, if it carries the same seating arrangement with a liftback.

Toyota/Scion, are you looking at this? WE WANT LIFTBACK!!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Why can't you have both? Many "sports cars" with lift backs. I dont see what you have issue with.
