BMW M3: two banks of cylinders, two pipes for a while combine into one muffler, 4 tips
Lexus IF: two banks of cylinders, sometimes two pipes, sometimes one, two mufflers, 4 tips. Conclusion: They're both faking it, but it's no surprise since they're both mass-market production cars. FWIW, the Lexus appears to have some underbody aero cladding, whereas the BMW definitely has none.

I really hope the FR-S doesn't have quad exhaust tips, dual at the very most. The idea of splitting the exhaust pipes once they are condensed down to 1 just seems pointless. If there are two exhaust manifold exits, then send two pipes to the ass of the car to their own mufflers and exits. Going from 2, down to 1, back up to 2, and each of those split again to 4 is pointless and a waste of money.
Send two pipes all the way back, or just have a single center exit. Why four?

As long as the FR-S does not have a center exit exhaust I don't care if there are one, two, or four tips.
