It is illegal, it is unsafe, and you are an ignorant SOB. You asked for exactly what I gave you, but you must be too small to admit when you are wrong.

Now to my point:
If you get hit from the rear, and someone else gets hurt either in your vehicle or the other, you may be held personally liable/sued for more money than you and your relatives have. Your insurance company will drop you like a rock when they see you have painted two of your vehicles safety devices black, yes black. I am not saying this for you, asshole, but for others that CAN READ, and may think differently about doing this mod knowing they are jeopardizing every other motorist on the roadway around them.
Please be safe out there.

umadbro? Take your opinion and shove it up your own ass, or spread it all over someone else's thread. Better yet, go rage on anyone here who has tints on lights, or vendors who offer head and tail vinyls.

Furthermore, I never said I was right or you were wrong. I asked for a link to the specific law to EDUCATE myself. You act like I'm the first and only one on this forum to have performed this mod.
So many assholes on this forum.

Edit: And now that I think about it, what about the lights on the bottom of the car? The triangular brake light. Untinted, plenty visible at all times. I just read the statute. Although it mentions all vehicles need a pair of red reflectors, my vehicle has those. It also says light visible within 500 feet. Definitely got that too. I get rear ended, I won't blame this mod. I'll blame the stupidity of the person behind me. Brake lights are not the only factor that lets the motorist behind you know you're stopping, ya know?

As a driver you should always keep in mind that you do in fact owe a 'duty of care' to other drivers on the road. Anytime you break a traffic law or make a change to you vehicle in contradiction of law you are breaching that duty of care and if damage were to arise as a result it is possible to be successfully sued for that.

We all see the pictures you posted. Your reflectors are not red any more, and they do not reflect light anymore because you painted them black. Just go out at night and shine a flashlight on them.
You also have a lot of faith in your insurance company.

They look sexy and cute, if that's what you want to hear.

There is fashion, there is fad
Some is good, some is bad
And the joke is rather sad
That its all just a little bit
of history repeating

They are clearly visible. Vht allows natural sunlight to penetrate the tint, and the reflectors can be seen during the day. Would it please you if I just removed the tints, my good man?

Lastly I had a thought, and this point has been made before. In accordance with your statements, couldn't I just rear end anybody who has tinted tail lights and get paid? Why aren't more people using this scheme?

You do whatever floats your boat. I cannot control your actions, nor do I want to.

If I had been rearended as violently as you were in that red Honda, I certainly would not be reducing the standard OEM lens reflectivity on my new vehicle and risking the inherent liability.

I have been an emergency responder for more than thirty years. I have cut apart many cars and am an expert at it. I have had to testify in many cases in court. I have seen more dead and grossly dismembered bodies in vehicles than any one person should. This is the reason I feel so passionate about safety on our roadways, and maintaining a safe vehicle.

I appreciate your concern and believe me, I don't want to see myself in another accident like that. I barely walked away with my life. Calling me an ignorant son of a bitch might not have been the way to do it, but your point is definitely understood.

Lol...... Ipothas,

Your tail lights are rad, I am gonna do the same with mine. Don't mind some ppl, haters are gonna hate, and from my experiance, law men think that if you mod your car in any way your an irresponsible young dumb kid. I resent that, who says you can't mod your car and have fun with it and drive responsibly while abiding by the law. This pete guy seems like he is blaming YOU for someone else hitting you.

Don't worry about the haters, have fun and be responsible
I will do mine up like yours, you've inspired me.

Post pics when i'm done.

The thing that is being ignored here is that Vht allows sunlight to penetrate the lens during the day and reflect. At night, the light shows through just as clear as stock.. No issues in my opinion

And thanks man! Good luck with the paint job and mask well. Mine are still looking great and the paint has cured really well. Can't wait for the pics

Hey all, just posting a small update. FR-S just hit 3200 miles, and I'm experiencing crickets. Parts are currently on back order according to my dealer, and I'm waiting for their call.

The VHT is holding up nicely, and no accidents so far :P
Been achieving an average of 31 miles to the gallon, mostly highway, and loving the vehicle every step of the way.

I'm experiencing some subtle clutch issues, such as vibrations and a shaking noise coming from the shift knob/boot. If I put pressure on the shifter towards a gear the rattle seems to go away. The rattle is most noticeable on hills, or when the car is resting at an angle upwards or downwards.

The car get's attention everywhere I drive it. In fact, friends jokingly told me I should start selling the FR-S because every time we pull up to a stoplight I'm beckoned to roll down my window and answer a plethora of questions about my ride.

sort of a random post, but I wanted to sum up my thoughts on the car after a month of inactivity. To any potential buyers: if you have the financial opportunity and are hesitating, go for it. The only thing I ever want out of this car is a more flashy interior to compete with the similarly priced Hyundai Veloster or Honda CRZ. Other than that, this car satisfies every aspect of my driving experience.

cheers
