IM0 that term is soo 90's.

First of all the term "rice" is derived from "riceburner". Which includes all asian imports regardless of model or styling. We used these terms where I grew up in the late 80's early 90's.

The term "tuner" is what we referred to as asian imports with fart can exhausts, spoliers that were bigger than the actual car and custom wheels.

Its obvious the terms rice and tuner have taken on different meanings.

Reading comprehension isn't the problem here. We are reading and understanding what you're saying. The problem is that you're basically saying that everything that you don't like is rice. Or maybe I should put it another way: You're saying that 95% of the cars in the world are rice, even if you count completely unmodified cars as they came off the assembly line.

Quote:

at no point did I say if the factory did it is isn't rice...i actually said the opposite...

boss 302 is rice. the dacals in no way improve the performance.
The decals aren't meant to improve performance. That's not the purpose of the decals. You're the only person I've ever known (not that I really know you, lol) who thinks the Boss 302 is rice (and because it has stickers)

Quote:

if rim diameter isn't driven by brake clearance it is rice, yep even on a factory car...
So using that logic, if there's less than 1/2" clearance between the caliper and the inside of the wheel, then that means it must be rice simply because a 1" smaller wheel could have been fitted? Are you nuts? Here's a newsflash for you--- brake clearance doesn't always dictate wheel size. Never has and never will.

Quote:

so lets simplify this for you simple people, if it isn't functional it is rice

...for instance the stupid decal on my gas door from the dealer...is ricey as F^ck.

18's on a mini cooper...factory or otherwise...rice

18's on a Z where they are required to clear brakes...NOT rice.

I like that i made you guys so mad...it tells me you are ricers at heart and what i have said made it that much harder for you to deny.
I don't think you made anyone mad. Well, I can't speak for everyone else, so I should say that you definitely didn't make me mad. You actually amused me with your warped views on car modifications and rice.

Quote:

here's a tip, come to terms with it, you are what you are...if you like that stuff embrace it and quit letting people you don't know judge you and affect you, your skin's too thin...go get some swag, you'll feel better about yourself
Here's a picture of my daily driver. Take a look and tell me if it's rice or not. And if it is, tell me why....

I've always had a secret deep love of Rice-a-roni myself...please don't tell anyone.

Like a couple of others, I had never heard the term used in reference to cars until I joined this forum, probably because I always tended to run more in the *Rod circuits myself. Being a Honda motorcycle fan, I was familiar with riceburners in that context, but never really thought of it as derogatory, most likely because I'm not Asian.

I always thought rice or ricer as a derogatory name applied to cars made in Japan or in that area. Cause like other races a certain food can be stereotyped to a race to poke fun at them. Usually a person with a Ford, Chevy or some type of muscle car made in the USA will call a Japanese made car a Ricer no matter if its stock or made to look like Fast & Furious cars. It is just the way people are. No one can just say "Hey nice car", unless they own one themselves.

=)

I'm actually surprised they don't have a Ford guy pissing on a rice field. They have them pissing on the Chevy logo and Chevy logo guy pissing on a Ford logo.

Just go watch some youtube vids with japanese cars. Most comments are someone saying 'rice' or why muscle cars are better.

That looks more like schnitzel to me.

I saw a Tata Nano that was (basmati) rice.

I didn't say I'm not an unfortunate fan of alot of the things I mentioned everyone seems to assume that rice is a derogatory term, that's the problem with trying to identify things that are subjective when everyone wants to pretend like their opinion is objective...I drew my lines where they could be readily identified. Are the lines harsh...well if you think of rice as a derogatory term then I guess they are.

Maybe this makes more sense now too?

No disrespect intended, the 302 (especially the Laguna seca) is a bad ass car...but detroit perfected rice with their outlandish stripes/colors/paint schemes....I'd say the mother of all rice is the thunder chicken

Check your history on this one buddy, there's a reason we only had 13 and 14 inch rims...then 14 and 15's and so on and such forth...used to be that there wasn't good enough rubber to need bigger brakes....the times they are a changing.....and no there doesn't need to be less than 1/2 inch, brake rotors need effective space to discharge heat into radially, with un-obstructed flow. bottom line a 19" and an 17" rim tire combo with the same tread width have very different sidewall characteristics and unsprung weights, and there is a reason race cars aren't running 35 series tires and dubs. (again keep in mind im not saying these things aren't visually appealing)

Good, comic relief is all threads like this are good for, keep in mind we aren't getting paid for this, it shouldn't be a stress riser, I know it isn't for me.

That's no more rice than a Teriyaki bowl......i mean look at that outrageous paint color and those aftermarket 32" rims with 12 series tires......I bet your calipers have hello kitty caliper covers too, and i (ofcourse) assume that has a 1.2 liter Na gas motor from a pedestrian motorcycle......

Ofcourse it's rice remember everything is rice :happy0180:

Hey now, back off the Thunder Chicken! I think we already decided that wasn't rice, but pure American Corn! :happy0180:
