I love this car. Always been a motor-head and the FRS pushes every single driving button I have.

However, this thread is a good example of why I will be focusing my time and money more and more on the classic and hot-rod side of the hobby. I don't have the time, patience or inclination to second guess the electronic nanny's reaction to every change I make. Plus, once you come up with a work-around, you need to run it past the environmental and legal departments. Way too frustrating of a car for anyone that wants to play with it.

The FRS stays stock.

Count me in, I had my share of cars to mod and this one it just too new to do anything too drastic.

Now I just need a garage to put in a nice 90's japanese car as a project

If it's functional everywhere but your driveway...is it possible to back into the drive instead of pulling in?

I get your point, but this particular scenario is simply the user's coilovers not having much droop travel, causing wheel lift, causing the LSD to have issues.

All mechanical things that could happen on any car...no electronic nannys for this situation. Just a combination of a few things that could be fixed with different parts.

This car is very easy to modify...but yes it does take some time and thought to actually improve things. No need to run it by the environmental or legal departments, but you do have to think about the pros and cons of each part like you would for any car.

If you're saying what I think you're saying, I get the same problem all the time. If your traction control is lighting up then the scratching sound is from the traction control itself trying to stop you from slipping. It only happens when you're turning into an uphill that has a slippery surface, correct?

I have this problem everytime I leave my parking at work. What I do now, is get a slight rolling start (10 ~ 12 mph, 16 ~ 20 kmh) before I start the uphill / turn, and then leave the gas, let it roll up, straighten out and get back on the gas. Sounds a lot more complicated that it actually is.

Its the only solution for me because if I'm slowly inching up the uphill, the traction control doesn't let me move. If I turn it off, the slippery surface makes the car start rolling back down. Freaked the hell out of me the first time it happened.

If it's the nannies causing the problem why not turn them off? You can temporarily turn off TC and it will come back on after you've hit 20 m/h.

If anything, the VSC actually HELPS the car move if there's one wheel off the ground.

The FRS stays stock.
But the makers have both said they they built it with the intention of the owners upgrading and modifying it????

ZN it's definitely the tc/sc kicking in. I brought mine home the first day and thought for sure i'd torn the front bumper off. I to have a sloped driveway that junctures with a sloped street. Just carry enough momentum off the hill to make the transition and it shouldn't make a sound.

It only happens if I get the angle wrong, I did not get it to lift when I tried it.
