There is something wrong with the current program that is for sure. If you go into the diagnostics and watch the speed output, it's much higher than your actual speed.

It was reading 110 for me while I had the cruise at 70mph.

I'm just a bit nervous of taking it in and receiving it back with broken clips and/or scuffed up dashboard, therefore, causing me to make another appointment for replacement parts :\

I was thinking of the same thing. I'm afraid the car would develop rattles if I get this done. In fact I brought a printout of the tsb when I had my 1st oil change. They did not find any problem with the Nav so it was blessing in disguise. I only had 'lost signal' issue once or twice no big deal.

Perhaps you need to change the units to miles. Sounds like its showing Km.

I get signal loss sometimes but not to the point that it prevents me from reaching my destination. I wonder if just the updated SD card is available and works without the antenna revision. I'd prefer to not have my antenna cracked open. Even after doing the TSB, it'll never be perfect (software/hardware never is even after numerous revisions). I'll just rely on Google Maps on my smartphone (which gets updated regularly) if it comes down to it.

Checked the math, and this looks like what they did somehow.

Crappy video, but here is what the read out is. (easier to see at end of clip)

http://ebenger.com/VID_20121013_192018.3gp

So it looks like they are changing the cars actual MPH to KPH for the MPH readout on the GPS, and then using that to calculate the KPH.

Awesome! Now does the dealer have to be able to replicate the issues, or will they just take your word for it and perform the changes? I often have these issues but knowing my luck it will work fine when the dealer tries it.

I would take a video if you can. If you do take it in to the dealer to verify make sure he waits 4-6 hours after you drop it off before he tests it. Also in my experience it happens most often when I don't sit still for long periods when first starting out (I.E. sitting at stop signs or red lights).

Good Luck!

My reading of the TSB (page 3) suggests that they should listen to you, and if what you describe fits the TSB - order parts.
I did write to Subaru support about this and got:
Quote:
The dealer will simply need to determine whether the symptom you are describing to them is related to the TSB. They will not need to personally duplicate the condition. I would recommend visiting your dealership.
I'm sure the ass-covering reps at the dealers will want to talk you into leaving your car for a day of verification there.

I went to my dealer for this today and after waiting 20 minutes of who knows what they went ahead and ordered the parts. I doubt they reproduced it lol as it only happens in certain "pockets" by my house. But since I came in before for the crickets and they turned me away for not being able to reproduce it (I had just filled with 93 octane a few days prior) I guess they felt sympathetic this time.

I'm heading to the dealer first thing on Saturday with the TSB printed out. I get the loss of signal on about 60% of the times I leave my house nearly at the same point in my neighborhood each time with it sometimes taking multiple miles on the highway before the signal comes back. I'm basically just going to give them the TSB and tell them to order the parts as I verified my VIN is part of the TSB.

I got my SD card and antenna on Tuesday, did the change myself, haven't heard "GPS Signal Lost" since. I also notice it nows locks onto 11 SAT's instead of only 7.

Note - If you don't disconnect the radio when installing the new bracket and antenna, you don't lose radio presets and nav favorites. Might want to mention that to your Service peeps when having the fix done.
