Subaru TSB 15-158-12 for GPS

Countermeasures have been developed to address customer concerns of GPS signal loss, incorrect Vehicle location or vehicle direction (arrow) display and system "freeze". The countermeasures consist of an exchange SD card containing updated operating software to address these customer concerns in addition to a revised GPS antenna /mounting bracket assembly which repositions the GPS antenna.

Cars with VIN's lower than those numbers and with verified problem.

Sweet can get this one and the chirping one taken care of at the same time.

dsgerbc 10-25-2012 02:51 PM

Nice. Thanks.
Still, not a recall, like it should be. Hence, dealers will have to confirm, which in my case means leaving the car with them for many hours. I hope they can take a video as proof.

Just scheduled an initial appointment, where they'll "diagnose" the issue before ordering the parts. I'm making a video of the problem to show the technician, in case they can't duplicate the issue there.

So this will take at least two trips.

Could someone that has the new SD card post a zip of it's contents? I'd rather not drive 4 hours and wait for the dealer, then drive another 4 for when it comes in...

If so, thanks!

Ugh, I don't use GPS much...but I want it to work when I use it. I don't have time to let them diagnose if I have the issue NOW when I could very well have it happen to me on the road.

I think it's more about the relocation of the GPS antenna farther back than the software update. You could probably take some scrap metal and make a new bracket that works just as well.

I don't know, to me it really looks more of a software glitch. Not that I am a GPS designer, but I have seen a lot of software bugs; Most of which I have created.:D

@michaelahess: PM me and we can see if something can be arranged. It probably wont be for a couple of weeks, waiting for the parts and going out of town.

I hear "gps signal lost" twice a day every day, but didn't want to tell service cuz I thought they were sick of me!!! lol now I can say fix it!
