I ordered mine in June (~28th) and picked it up July 16th. I would call around to a few dealerships to see if anyone else is faster. Lower volume dealers might be better since they have a better chance of having some left in their allocation.

What happeneds with the trade in amount the dealer gave on your vehicle, if the car takes 6 months to arrive? Assuming normal amount of wear and tear. Are they bound to the trade in evaluation that they wrote on the sales agreement?

I ordered my car September 11th from a pretty high volume dealer, last I checked it was going to be here around the time they quoted me, which was mid November. I'll post up when I get more info but it looks like my wait time will be significantly less than those who ordered elsewhere. This was at Sherwood Park Toyota for those who care.

negative. if you read the agreement you signed basically it says said trade amount is subject to final vehicle inspection upon delivery and subject to change.

I did my deal on a frs 3 week of august. told around december delivery but sounds like maybe november now. I'm trading in a vehicle and they basically said as long as there isn't any damage or ridiculous amount on kms on it difference they would honor the price.

I'm still a bit skeptical but I'll go down that road if need be once my car arrives and delivery day is set. I also took it upon myself to take my trade in off the road and garage it and drive the winter beater in the mean time.

I have been hearing lots about a mid- to late-November delivery for Canada. Guess it just depends on where you are after that.. I'll be last to get mine lol.

Similar here. My trade-in has seen maybe 250km since I signed papers in early July. Just to keep the brakes from rusting up. I drove it to work today for the first time in I'd guess almost a month. The wait has actually increased my return value and will lower my final payments on the FR-S, since I'm paying off the loan while the sale value is essentially unchanged with no mileage put on it.

Forgetting for a moment that a mass production car is not an investment and is always a luxury, you're not winning anything because the money you would have had otherwise could sit in investments and earn you interest.

Hoping that the cost of your car will be less in the future due to inflation is futile because that is simply a numbers perspective and the reality is that you are spending actual cash NOW for a product/service you don't have access to, and that's a raw deal if you ask me.

Oh yeah, I understand that. I'm spending more on my trade-in that I will be on the FR-S, so I'm losing more money the longer I wait. The money I would have saved by getting the car back in July would have went to reducing overall debt (ie. back onto the new car) anyways. For someone who lives paycheque to paycheque, it's still a small positive I can focus on while naively ignoring the grand scheme.
