Canadians get shafted: $3007.95 USD (before tax)

That is a LOT of mods...
I can't speak to the subie, but with the tC the two cars are not equipped the same between the US and Canada. We get bluetooth, carpet mats, splash guards and a couple other features as standard equipment. Aside from that, each distributor gets different pricing for each vehicle that is based on several factors; exchange rate, tariffs, taxes, expected volume, etc.

It's not really an apples-to-apples comparison.

Sorry, but I call on a dealership knowing how much a car that isn't even production ready yet is going to cost. At most it's a guess. Hell I doubt they even have an accurate date for when the brochures will be shipping.

Ah ok! I was gonna say! I'm still calling for the dealer giving specifics.

Supply and demand perhaps! They figured that the AWD will benefit the user in the winter months. Have you looked at the sales figures between a tC and a WRX in your area?

Yeah man, the people I believe at a dealership are the parts guy and the fleet sales. The rest blow smoke and you can never take anything they say literally, unless you believe in lost hope!

I'm not bitching too hard about paying a bit more in Canada (even though our money is finally worth something). This always happens, the small market excuse "you buy less total volume so we have to charge more to make the same money". Instead of maybe pricing competitively and seeing if we really need as many dealers as we have.

But it gets bad when people were privately importing new STIs from the States, and even after all the taxes, fees, etc... were STILL paying way less, what started happening is that Subaru Canada (and others) tried to block this by claiming that the US models didn't meet Canadian safety standards, based on immobilizers or something. It was pure BS to make the importing a huge hassle.

Too greedy, that even when they realized people would rather go to another country (let alone another dealer) to buy a car rather than get gouged, they played some politics instead of adjusting their prices.

Maybe it's a sports car thing...
Nissan 370Z in Canada: $40,898 CAD (43,134.53 USD)
Nissan 370Z in USA: $31,450 USD
Shafting: $11,684.53 USD

Nissan Versa (1.8L Hatch) in Canada: $14,548 CAD (15,328.21 USD)
Nissan Versa (1.8L Hatch) in USA: $14,100 USD
Difference: $1228.21 USD

Oh and since Nissan USA offers a stripped 1.6L Versa sedan for $9990 (wow that's cheap!), someone in the US could buy a base 370Z AND Versa for LESS money than the Canadian Z buyer. They could even go up to the next Versa 1.6L trim level ($11,420) and still be under!

And even if the base Z's in Canada have a few extra features, screw that. There is no way it is almost $12k better.

Wow... I just totally depressed myself about the buying experience of a new sports car...

Thing is we just got Scion recently (one or two years ago?), and I hardly see any tC's on the road. Plus my area has the largest active Subaru community in Canada. Vancouver (one city) has its own Chapter on NASIOC (for example SoCal is its own Chapter) whereas the rest of the country is grouped into the Regional areas (which are much lower activity). I don't know what this means for real sales, but there are a TON of WRXs and STIs around.

Now the kicker. Vancouver is the only major city in Canada that doesn't get snow (maybe one or two days a year, that is gone in less than a week).

There is no chance that dealership knows the cost yet. We are still 9 months out (at least) until it hits dealers lots and 5 months from Tokyo.

If it is $27k loaded in Loonies, that means we would pay what $24-25k in USD?

but seriously, +-200hp for starting price $25k... that sound a bit overprice isn't it? if... & only, IF FRS came 200hp w 2300lbs & starting price of $25k then that's worth every penny & I'm more than willing to spend on it.

Not not starting. More like loaded (whatever that means). If it is $27k CAD that means it has got to be something like $24-25k USD based on how Canada always gets screwed on new car prices. Yeah $25k USD starting for the base is too much!

No worries mate. It is a bit confusing since the person posted in loonies and as being fully loaded. I'm sure most of us don't care about that and care about the base price. We dont care about nav, leather, moonroof...etc. Just give us enough performance for a good price.
