So does it actually have a purple pearl or is it just the lighting?

I'm in China right now and there are a good number of dark-purple cars, I actually think they look great. So good I could consider owning a purple car.

I owned a purple car, a 93 grand am... But it was such a confusing metallic shade that the final color really depended on the lighting conditions. It ranged somewhere between purple and black. I got rear ended once in that car and the cop asked me the color of the car. my response? "what color do you think it is?" I really wasn't trying to be a smart ass, but his glare said otherwise.

It wasn't until I plugged the VIN into one of the computers at the Pontiac dealership I worked at, that I found out the color was "amethyst"

Though, In this case: I'm pretty sure it's the lighting. They seem to be using a combination of red and blue lights. Just look at the shadows under the car

Dark purple is quite a strange color on a car imo lol, I saw a Cadillac in some sort of purple and god it looked weird.

Depends what shade of purple.
You got the "look at me in my amazing car fuck yeah" purple, or the "normal" purple.

The colour is from the lighting. Here's a video I took of it at the same show:

Also, my albumn of photos of the FT86 from the show is here:

This, I was amazed at how sexy it was in the flesh, Im sold.
That said however if the production version comes out ugly I will have to think twice.
