What do you mean by that? What "blew" on them?

What seems weird to me is that this doesn't happen with WRXes? Or does it? It's hard to believe that we are abusing these parts worse than a WRX driver does..

well does the 2004 sti swap make sense for track use? may solve the caliper failure problem, but youre still on the same rotors..or no?

You would use 2004 STI rotors for that, but unless you have the calipers sitting around you might as well buy the Essex kit.. the STI calipers that I've seen on ebay aren't exactly cheap. You could potentially throw off the bias as well since the rotors are larger in diameter. I haven't driven a car (well a BRZ) with that setup yet though.

Ahem. I've got an STI front and rear set. It's currently got the pistons popped out and paint stripped (comes with Brembo "made in Italy" seals, still in package). I will sell it for cheap. Also have 2004 STI front rotors and pads. And rear rotors and pads, but the rears won't work on this platform.

I don't know if I would start calling it "the caliper failure problem" so soon.

The tracking numbers are hidden in the lower left section of the invoice. At least mine we're anyway. Mine arrive tomorrow with my new wheels. I wonder if I have enough time to put both on.

Yes, tracking number should be on the invoice as stated. However, I'll have one of our sales people send a separate email out with tracking numbers just to be sure. Thanks.:happy0180:

I don't think Dave meant it that way. I'd say it was an isolated incident unless we hear about other examples of this happening. I guess the message is however: If you're tracking your car on stock calipers, it's probably a good idea to regularly check your calipers for leaks, and keep an eye on your brake fluid reservoir. That's really something you should be doing anyway.

Okay...brake systems are shipping...time to move on to some details about our harness bar and exhaust system.

Correct. I check mine every session, good way to see leaks and get a general gauge on pad wear since it's impossible to tell on these cars with the wheel on (without a mirror-on-a-stick and light anyways).

Mine are on a delivery truck right now

Picssssss!! Mine will be here on friday, perfect timing because my car leaves fabrication that day . Post pic of your oem setup dave, i wonder how your rotors and calipers look compared to mine.

Cant wait to break these in and test them out at the track. I wonder what the condition of my oem caliper seals look like when i take them apart, even with spiegler lines, fluid, and pads the pedal started to feel spongy after my last session and i felt vibration probably from the front rotors, i was a bit hard on them knowing these were on the way though.....

Is this the super lightweight exhaust system you were talking about last time we spoke?

This could have been a manufacturing defect or fluke, but I had been warned of this possibility a couple of month ago by Endless. They apparently had experienced issues with the OEM calipers leaking under hard track use during compound testing in Japan. I sort of blew this off as I had never heard of an OEM brand new caliper failing so quickly under any sort of track use... I had about 6 track days on the OEM calipers before the big failure. I noticed a little weeping around the seals on the passenger AND driver side calipers when I swapped over to the DS2500 pads, but being that there was little I could do about it, the day before my next event; I had let it ride... That was my path to stepping up to the Essex kit. I just do not wish to deal with this issue again. I will fully disclose that I had blown 3 calipers on my old Integra at Watkins Glen, but they had 140,000 miles on them so hardly a manufacturing or engineering issue.

Pics below of the passenger side stuff.

I'll take pics of my stock setup when I do the swap, probably won't do the swap until this weekend. Hockey tonight, fixing a POS VW (wait I guess the POS part was obvious from the VW part ) on Thursday night, going out friday night for a bit.. so yeah.. saturday

I'll take pics of my.. uhmm unique? front rotors and check the calipers for any leaks.
