Those RS seats are hideous... where'd they get them from - a retired Airbus??

If there's a push button, +1 on it being in the center console somewhere.

I really wouldn't mind if they kept all buttons off the steering wheel. Every time I drive the Xterra I keep hitting the buttons and somehow playing my wife's Burlesque soundtrack...

They usually have them on all scions, but since there is no CD Player in the fr-s, there will be no use for them... *crosses fingers*

I rather have a regular key, but if they do go with the keyless entry+push to start option, I hope it's in the middle console/next to lever or on the steering wheel, not behind it

Lol! My girlfriend was watching that movie the other day...yeah I've never owned a car that had buttons on the wheel and every time I drive my girl's Corolla I forget they're even there.

Gotcha. Most cars I've seen, Genesis, 370Z, Maxima, IS, etc usually have it next to the wheel...I guess the big baller mobiles have it all fancy, the cockpit of that Lambo looks like an air craft!

Also, if they decide to go that route, wouldn't it be even more complicated for manuals? It would add unnecessary weight, which seems to go against their goals.

How?...not disagreeing with you I'm just not understanding how it would add extra weight for on the manuals

I have a mk5 gti in my garage.

That POS has so many problems with it...I could of bought so many good mods with the money i spent just fixing things.

1. Engine airbox/cover is a POS (designer of that should be fired)
2. Rear brake tail lights keep blowing out ever so often
3. Engine stalls many times , until fuel pumped was replaced after 1.2 years of ownership.
4. Rear hatch suspension is busted with me rarely opening the hatch.
5. Steering wheel comes "crooked" about 10-15 degrees stock. (if i hold the steering wheel straight with my hands at 3/9 o clock. the car will turn left slightly)

Looks of the car is so deceiving...At least with the FRS...if something goes wrong with it..it is still RWD, lightweight, and a Balance machine. In addition, Oil change won't cost $100 at the shop (or $50 if i do it myself)

Sounds like a lemon. All manufacturers eventually make a few unfortunately... we might even see a FR/FT or two.

Sounds like the Protege5 I owned for just over a year before getting fed up with it and trading it in. With the amount of money I dumped into that thing just to keep it moving, I could have had it paid off instead of trading it in with negative equity.

Well, you would need some machine to engage the clutch on the manual (which is not like the automatic where you can just program it), which will obviously add weight and is just another extra thing on the car that might brake. I don't know if there is an easier way, other than just making it so you will have to 1) get in the car 2) press the clutch 3) press the start button, which might actually be OK. And if you get some idiot to brake into your car, he might be sitting there long enough, pressing the start button, wondering why its not working, for the cops to catch him lol.

, I hate when people come into my dealership claiming BMW is trash and makes trash cars because their car has been nothing but problems since day one. What can you say to them? You're wrong look at all those other guys smiling and just getting maintenance? You COULD explain that robotic arms and other pieces of assembly line machinery are subject to the same out of spec tolerances that every other piece of machinery is... but they wouldn't care lol.

i don't expect the GTI to be a flawless car...

But the experience at the dealership is horrendous.

At least when i had the BMW, when the engine light comes on, I just take it to the dealers and there is no B.S. hastle of meaningless talk. They take the car in....check it out...fix it...and bring it back to me when ready.

Actually the Crooked steering wheel on the car is very dominant in the GTI lineup. I think they fixed it by the time Mk6 came out.
As for the Lights going out, I have seen SOOOO MANY beetles with one headlight burnt out...or many Jettas/golfs/gtis with part of the brake lights burnt out.

I tell ya, those VW electrical gremlins always win out. There is no way to beat them except not to drive a VW.
