I was about to but my wife me feel guilty about the old man so i let it slide but the whole time we were there i went to my car a few times to make sure no other cars was parked close to it..lol

Yeah, those situations are always crappy... I had a family roll their Safeway cart into the rear bumper on my previous car. There wasn't much damage, save but some blemishes and scratches, but the problem was that they immediately said, "There is no damage, you're fine, you're fine." I thought it was pretty rude... at least start off with an apology and actually inspect before making that statement!
