Not that im going to use it. Lol. Been bagging out the sat nav. Well all sat nav's...

I just feel slack that someone would pay $300 plus for an update. Should be free updates, at least for 3 years.

Can someone please post a screenshot of what the SD card file/folder structure looks like, because you'll probably be able to just transfer on updated iGO/Whereis .fbl, .fda, and .hnr map files.

Checkout the link I posted earlier to find latest map files, poi files, speed camera files and more interesting information.

i dont get Toyota

you buy a new car... it comes with 2010 maps... you ask for an update... get told its not a Toyota issue (DA FUC?) and get palmed off to the dealer... Toyota dealer says it costs $325 (!!!)... there's nothing here that's right... there's nothing here that makes me feel confident... this isnt customer service or any kind of reasonable response

i'd like to spin this story via. Fair Trading and see what they say... its so silly and incompetant its almost Today Tonight story quality!

I don't think I'm being unreasonable when I say that I expect a $35,000 car to have the latest 2012 updates INCLUDED and at least *ONE* free map update in 2013/14... hell, you buy a $99 GPS from Aldis and it comes with multiple free updates but a $35k car is negatron? really?

Same file structure as iGO. I am just not willing to overwrite the original. I tried to duplicate it using HDDrawcopy but the unit wouldn't recognise the duplicate.

Ok. Some new information. The unit uses some form of iGO. I got it to bring up a splash screen saying 'iGO' on it for 1 second. Not sure how I did this. =S

I tried overwriting the map files on the stock SD with a newer version and go a message on startup "Map/Authorisation Authentication fail. Please check SD card."

From what I've read, you also get this message if you copy the SAME files over to another SD card. This suggests that the map files store the SD card's ID somewhere (probably obfuscated).

Thought on this?

I'm sure we'll find out a way to not get stung with the ridiculous cost of them loading a new map onto the sd card. Maybe we can start a thread over at GPSUnderground.

Lol I just read up to the end
I told you guys at the start that the card ID is more than likely written in a authentication file somewhere (look on page 1/2 of this thread :p)
As for the rest, damn I missed the computer talks haha
No I'm not in IT, although am in engineering
Seriously, look at the cards id, then either search for it in txt or hex format, it's gotta be there
As for the maps updating, you need to look in to a few things, it's easy, just not straight forward, and I don't want to discuss it here, or anywhere other than in person due to font want to be sued/prosecuted

so what about BRZ's unit? same unit from Eclipse website says it comes with 3years free Navteq map update.

http://www.eclipse-web.com/au/produc...ion/avn/827ga/

Just wondering that whether OEM unit also comes with those benefits....

i think how iGO works is that there's a special software tool that writes a unique build on a particular SD card

you can't clone the SD

the software tool is in factory so no copies should be out there on the internet

If it was written, it can be rewritten. There is no such thing as a unhackable program
You just have to find how exactly it is bound to the SD card (like I said ages ago it has to be linked to sd card identifier, this is usually in the first few "unchangable" sectors on the card itself
