My first three tankfulls were 31.4, 32.6 and 32.8. That was the break in period, during which I followed the manuals recommendations. The first tank after the break in was 27.4. I don't drive it lightly- I'll wind it out at every chance, and like to go 10 to 15 over the limit.

On the same subject- I was re-reading the Car & Driver FR-s/Cayman comparison today, and I noticed that they only got 21 mpg from the FR-s during their test. Then I looked at another comparison in the mag, between 4 sedans (Altima, VW, etc.) that are all rated at around 27/34, and their test numbers were 18 and 19 mpg for the lot! I guess you can flog the car to death if you're a car mag tester, because that's the only way to get the numbers that low.

I suspect that your low mileage figures are due to driving style.

As an experiment for those of you unhappy with your mileage, pull the battery ground (10mm wrench you can do this in 15 seconds) for a couple minutes. Reattach it and go drive the way you normally would. Top off the tank and see what kind of mileage you get. I suspect it will change based what I noticed on my car after doing this, where my mileage went down as I drive the car harder than I did previously.

I'm averaging 33+ currently with a combination of lite city driving and quasi slow back roads.

I averaged over 35 on my first road trip.

Admittedly I don't drive aggressive often. My previous car was a hybrid, so I'm still stuck in taking it easy mode. Not worried about that though: keeps the tickets away.

28 mpg...stuck in traffic everyday to and from work

18.5? Something is wrong. I'd pull the perrin and bring it into the dealer

The original post was over two months ago. Was there ever an issue discovered or was it just a matter of miscalculating their mileage? Seems like most people are getting around thirty give or take.

My indicated gas mileage over the first 1000 miles is 30.4 mpg. 80% city driving. I've been taking it easy for the break-in miles obviously.

On my way to El Paso from Barstow, I managed about 38 mpg.. Over the mountains and all down the 10.. Made it to Phoenix on one tank at 408 miles... But Phoenix to elapse, was down to 31 mpg... Idk why maybe ethanol??? Still better then the 15 mpg I got out of my last car... Around town I've been avg 32 or so, but my last job was 35 miles hwy each way

I've never gotten below 30MPG on a tank, with 8000 miles on the clock.
