18.5 mpg?

What is everyone else getting for mileage?

Im getting average 18.5 in town and 20 highway. Seems a little too far off from the 30/34 we were all told when we bought the car.

I have 2k miles on my car
everything is stock other than a perrin crank pulley
I use only chevron 92 octane w/ 10%Ethonol fuel

I guess I was just wondering what other people were getting for mileage?

brz7400 08-11-2012 05:47 PM

I am getting about 22mpg in mixed driving. 18.5mpg means you are having too much fun!

dvlnsyde 08-11-2012 05:50 PM

WOW! I am getting 29-30 and my driving is 60/40 = hwy/city.

Jidonsu 08-11-2012 05:52 PM

I have a best of 35.8 and a worst of 28.5. How are you driving your car?

MY13FRS 08-11-2012 05:53 PM

About 27mpg if I keep the rev below 3k rpm.

zoomzoomers 08-11-2012 05:54 PM

I've got 575 miles on the clock and on my 2nd fill up. I'm getting 25.5 mpg average from the meter. I do 80 city and 20 hwy. Well really 80 stop and go and sometimes hwy.

BTW, what is the range for a full tank of gas on our cars?

feyrerm 08-11-2012 06:01 PM

Settled on 31.5 after about 2k miles. I drive about 50/50 hwy/city.

your mg seems pretty off. I'm getting about 34mpg but that's with mostly highway driving and keeping it light on the throttle. Obviously if you peel off at every stop sign and red light or doing 85mph you're not gonna be getting good mpg

Mongo 08-11-2012 06:07 PM

Well. The last tank of fuel I have been trying quite hard not to drive crazy. and havent seen any improvement.

This is what really concerns me is that I havent noticed a difference regardless of how I drive

roddy 08-11-2012 06:10 PM

I live in the country and most of my driving is 2 lane 55mph type roads with some in town cruising. (I'd say about an 80/20 split) I'm pretty impressed with mine at an average of 33mpg. It sounds like you have a really heavy foot, or something is wrong.

Oh, my car is an MT, bone stock, and using either 94 octane with 10% ethanol or 91 with no ethanol. Fuels with ethanol can reduce mileage a bit, but wouldn't explain 18.5mpg.

sdlynx 08-11-2012 06:16 PM

I'm averaging around 27mpg, and that's about 75 percent city driving. If you're averaging in the 18 range without constantly gunning the engine at every stoplight, I'd be a little concerned. Then again, if you're constantly launching hard and holding high revs, then I could see it happening.

Did you reset the Average MPG when you re-filled the tank? Just checking.

Mongo 08-11-2012 06:20 PM

Well. Im not getting any malfunction codes. So maybe I just drive my car too hard. Ill keep people posted if I figure this out.

Your measuring your MPG wrong.
