It seems that this car's transmission is sensitive to elevation and angle too... Stop & go on a slope, this car loves to make sounds like its gargling glass.

Cold air = more oxygen per square inch. NA motors LOVE cold weather, denser air means a ton more oxygen going in to the engine, as a result, more gas could be put in as well.

Someone mentioned skipping gears on the upshift? Don't. do not skip gears upshifting. Downshifting is fine, but not upshifting.

You should see rotary engines in the cold, would rev to 4k rpm's till warm, dump fuel and oil until it warms up. Was quite the spectacle

I run the tires @ 40 in the winter because of the tpms.

Keep in mind that you lose about 1PSI for every 10 degree drop in temperatue. If you set your pressures when it was 90 degrees out and the temperature drops to 30, you've lost 6 PSI. Guess what, your TPMS light will activate.

Why? The tire inflation pressure listed on the door jamb is the cold inflation pressure. Just fill the tires to the recommended setting when the tires are cold and you won't ever see the light.

Bad habit from being in the Tire industry, tire pressure will change along with ambient temperature. Each 10 degree F change in temperature will change tire pressure by about 1 psi (pound per square inch). The pressure follows either up or down. Where I live we may have winter days in the Sixties, but night near freezing. 40psi the ride sucks, hard as hell. But in the morning my TPMS will not be on. until the day warms up.

Maybe you need to carry around a portable air compressor

We have similar day/night air temps in my area but I've never had a car's TPMS complain based solely on that. What's the range to keep the BRZ/FR-S happy? Based on what people are saying, it seems pickier than some other cars.

I don't think it's any pickier. Before my last road-trip I checked my tire pressure and was down 4 PSI on average per tire. The TPMS light had not yet come on; for most people (I say most to account for those living in areas with wide temperature swings from morning to mid-day) it's only good as a dummy light, indicating a punctured tire or a wake-up call to someone who doesn't do his due diligence in checking his tire pressure.

Mine did, but apparently it was a box cutter blade. So I had to patch up the tire

I am curious as to why you would recommend using every gear every time.
This isn't a sequential gearbox. You can skip gears all day long. More skipping will prolong the life of the clutch and generally prevent wear and tear.

More HP and more gears = more opportunity to skip gears.

Only thing you need to make sure and don't under rev or 'lug' the engine.

I noticed a rougher when it has sat over the weekend not driven, but as soon the idle comes down it runs fine.

I normally skip shift 1-3-5 in the neighborhood at night, keeps the exhaust note toned down.

I haven't checked my tire pressure. Partially because they came filled with Nitrogen. It was my understanding that the advantage of Nitrogen is that tire pressure doesn't fluctuate as much as oxygen based on temperature.
