Bluetooth and Nav System

So I've been having some problems with my navigation system lately. Specifically since I had friends in my car and we linked their phones to my car. The auto connect frequently fails now and sometimes my phone disconnects. I've also noticed the time it takes to establish the bluetooth connection is even longer.

Has anyone else noticed this? Do you have multiple phones linked to your car? What did you do? Erase the data? Set yours to the default? Im not sure what to do and I think its time I bust out the Nav System manual and do some reading.

Has anyone else noticed this has they got multiple friends phones linked up to their car? What did you do? Erase the data? Set yours to the default? Im not sure what to do and I think its time I bust out the Nav System manual and do some reading.

I think only one phone can be connected to navigation system at any one time. The more phones you add, the longer it will take to connect, since navigation system tries all phones in some sequence.

I have had issues with disconnecting and reconnecting for a couple months now. It worked great the first month or so. I have tried a bunch of stuff. I am using a Samsung Galaxy Blaze 4g.

I updated my operating system on my phone, which did not fix the issue. It actually made it worse, I would lose the bluetooth connection while taking on it. I ending wrecking my phone trying to root it to access some bluetooth files. Luckily my plan covered a replacement phone.

While I was without my samsung the bluetooth worked perfect with my old LG phone. It also works perfect now with my replacement phone.

Based on my experience it is the phone that is the issue, not the car. I would delete all the phones form your head unit and re-pair your phone.

If that does not work I would try rebooting your phone and taking the battery out. That actually made mine work for a short time.

In the end it is likely the result of some additional software you added to your phone. As a last resort I would flash your phone back to the stock form, don't add anything and see if that fixes it. It probably will. Then you can add stuff one at a time and see if the issue arises again.

Edit: I wanted to add that the xfinity mobile app may have been my issue. I have not reinstalled that yet. I was just looking on line about that app, which is a major POS and found this under permissions:

"create Bluetooth connections
Allows the app to view the configuration of the local Bluetooth tablet, and to make and accept connections with paired devices. Allows the app to view the configuration of the local Bluetooth phone, and to make and accept connections with paired devices."

Good luck!

Pat

Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be the sequence of top to bottom as displays on the Settings Connections menu you. Also, sorry about the terrible typos/grammar in my original post, after reading the quote I had to fix it.

Thanks, I'll try some of this out, I did notice when my friends phone connected it would actually say what Album/song was playing where mine just says Connected. Have you had any luck with a particular music player on your Android?

This happened to me recently too, I carry two phones with me all the time, and the head unit wouldn't connect to neither of my phones. I start to think it's the HEAD UNIT being faulty not the phones itself. I am still trying to find a fix for it, but so far no luck.

Actually I should have posted back, I fixed this by going into the phone settings via the head unit and removing all the phones and re-adding mine, works like a charm once again.

I have tried that and worked for a while, but the problem arose later on...

My GS3 stops connecting after several days. Turning BT in phone off and on restores connection for next few days. I do not have any problems with BT in my 4Runner.
