Honestly its a toss up what's making more noise, the stock intake resonator or the catback. It is very quiet, just marginally louder than stock. IMO if you want that quiet, just get new tips for the stock exhaust. I don't like a very loud exhaust but this IMO without the midpipe which apparently increases sound by quite a bit, isn't worth it for most and they should go unresonated. Luckily that was always my plan so I'm not disappointed.

I installed the full Perrin header back. First impressions. It was loud on a cold start. But when it warms up and you just let it idle. It's a quiet deep rumble. Extremely satisfied with it. Wouldn't look at any other set up.

The other option is leave the stock catback and change the midpipe:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgEQhQG2TbU"]Motiv test pipe 2 - YouTube[/ame]

Not my car.

My car with the stock exhaust header, overpipe and midpipe with the Perrin resonated catback is not as loud as these videos, its more quiet to maybe give you a comparison point.

Oh course the Perrin catback isn't just for sound...it's supposed to provide a nice increase in power.

Like you, I'm hoping to do the frontpipe+ at some point so perhaps the volume will be perfect (not too loud and not too quiet) at that point, with the resonated catback.

Catless, over pipe, front pipe and res. mid pipe. Love the sound. Loud when I want it to. Quiet when I need it too.

We'll find out about that. I get my Motiv test pipe on Tuesday and might dyno again fairly soon after that to see what it did with those two pieces vs a muffler delete.

Catted front pipe is good if you ever go to uncatted header...

IMHO the cats help keep making power down low, if daily drivability is a concern
sure you may gain a few hp up top without a cat but it can get stinky too, and much louder

I think the ticket for headerback:
Overpipe,Catted front, Nonresonated Mid(theres little to no power penalty for the resonated mid if you prefer it on the quieter side of free flowing exhausts) to the can. The perrin can is nice and flowy yet where most of the sound gets and a bunch of resonance gets trapped, vs the louder dual smallerish-can offerings.

for (not too loud and not too quiet) get the resonated

most dyno stuff I have seen - the muffler deletes arent that impressive , but I am sure curious to see what you produce

when you said your exhaust setup was "more quiet" what did you mean? like is it stock porsche cayman loud? or like those 350z/g35s

also, looking forward to the dyno

With the rest of the exhaust stock and just the Perrin resonated catback, its nearly stock BRZ/FRS quiet. Extremely quiet compared to what I expected. I expected/wanted more quiet as I will be adding the rest of the exhaust pieces. Its probably about as loud as my stock Porsche Boxster S was so yes Cayman stock quiet.

thank you OP for getting this thread going!

I'm interested in getting the CBE. My question to you ALL is where did you buy your exhaust systems from? Who gives the best price?

I got mine from @Sam Strano who owns StranoParts.com. He's a guy I know from racing though I only see him once a year at Nationals. No special hookups, just competitive pricing that was a cheap as I have seen anywhere.
