Not too many schools ofter good 3D animation programs near me..but at the same time, at the end of the day I have to ask myself, wtf am I going to do with that degree? Art is a tough field to land a good job in...at least that's the impression I have.
o boy...I better not think about this I have to be up at 5am for work.

No degree can offer you a permanent job in the future. Its all up to how you present your self in the long run that gets you your job.

To many college students go for something they can make the most money out of, you have to choose what you wanna do; not what offers the most money wise. We live in a era where you can really be whatever you want and its really sad to see no one is truly chasing after it.

But after reading my post i now regret not listening more in English class. *insert funny emoticon*

I would suggest you get your core classes out of the way at a community college or online school. This will give you time to think about where you want to go and what you want to do. Trust me I wish I would have gone this route.

The car is awesome but get something a little more affordable and use the money for school.

Honestly, you have to choose a career you'll be happy doing. If 3D animation is what you want to do, go with it. It's not like you're picking Gender Studies or some other throwaway degree. It might be harder to break into that field, but once you get the foot in the door, get experience under your belt, and more importantly, network with others in your field, things will open up for you.

At least you have an idea of what you want to do and where you want to go. I mucked around and screwed off in college and ended up washing out. Keep focused, don't take your eyes off of the eventual goal, and you'll do fine.

With $2K after tax forget about new car. I make three times of that and still was thinking if I should get this car or drive my old one for one more year. As for education, enroll in your state university. This will likely be cheapest option. Good engineering degree will get you most earning potential. Choose something that requires official certification, like civil or electrical engineering. Oil and gas exploration is a reasonable choice. Art school is only good if you now someone, who will give you a job when you graduate. From what you write here is does not sound to be a case. Leave art for hobby, which you will be able to afford having good income from professional job.

lol...in a perfect world all that would apply. Unfortunately, no matter how well you present yourself, some degrees are worthless. And I don't know what era you're living in, but jobs are a bit tough to come by now-a-days...better have a hell of a rainy day fund if you're gonna hold out for that dream job...

For me,every time it nears bed time, all the cons just hit me like a brick wall... Lol If that's truly what you want to go to school for, go to your advisers at school. I don't know ANYTHING about 3D animation -- but i'm sure there is a great need for it. The question is where? lol

go to college first...it will open up way more opportunities. If you do it right you can make a decent amount of money while in school...hell the national science foundation paid me $13k/year to go to school. Step in and see what happens.

Mine breaks down a lot, my friends have wealthy families so they just got done graduating from 4yr college and have nice new cars...and well just for once I wanted to get myself something at this magnitude...but now I'm feeling guilty. Why are they entitled to these kinds of things and I cant?
Would it be the right thing to do to get my mom her car first? Should I feel guilty? I really want this...The first time I saw this car in person my heart stopped and I just knew...

The way I saw it, get my car. Take out a loan for 8k for two years to get myself credit. This way when I go to college at 24(age you can take out shit ton of loans) Ill have something in my name and Ill have some money saved up.
When my mom car dies that's when I spend whatever it is I have. my goal for her is 14k

EDIT: Make the intelligent decision that won't put you in a bind.

Its all about perspective if you ask me. I was raised different then you, of course were going to have conflicting views of what a person can do for a living.

College!

Just like everyone said. Stability is key, and your education is much more important than getting a nice new car. Put your money towards your education, and if your mama needs a car, help her out first. When your making plenty of money as a professional, you'll feel glad that you invested your money where it matters. And you might be driving an FRS as well!
