If we do the base map on the worst Gas 91 oct its a good base to start from to make shore the tune is reliable even on a 91 Octane tune if you put 93 octane in the car will run better this is why we do the long road tunes when we release these kit to test all fuel conditions. Don't forget these ECU are all ways adjusting for the best performance on the fuel quality. Most off the time you will see better Fuel = more boost, there is not much difference in the map as we will try to run as much advance as we can and let the knock control do its job.
So please just give us some time to give dyno results and road testing. Speedhunters will be doing a story on the AVO Japan BRZ this week so there will be more Information on the kit on there web sight. |

Also, regarding the difference between 91 and 93, Ross is ABSOLUTELY correct. First of all, this is a 5 psi kit, not a crazy 25 psi kit pushing the whole limits of performance, so the difference will be relatively small. Second, if you have a 91 map and put 93 gas, there is no hindrance in performance, meaning if they made 250 whp and 230 wtq in 91, you will NOT make less power in 93, if anything you will make a bit more power. I know we have some knowledgeable people in the forum, but sometimes i read some posts and it just seems we also have some other members who know very little about how this works, and this is NOTHING wrong and nothing to be ashamed off. The problem I have with it is you start seeing a lot of posts about misinformation and it is written as FACTS, and it gets the masses riled up. I ask everyone (not pointing fingers at anyone specifically, just talking to the whole community) to please inform themselves before starting the forum war on how this or that is detrimental when in reality it is not, and also to follow the thread and read all posts, for accuracy.

I've noticed in the pictures, not trying to be a nag, but there isn't a tube to keep the water. I live in southwest Missouri where rain is abundant. I was wonder if you have a turbo intake pipe that diverted toward the top of the engine bay of if I would be required to resource my own water resistant turbo tube? But just like Ravenlokk said either way

On another note, I already convinced my wife if it helps, tell them that getting this kit is less expensive and produces more HP than getting a full exhaust, intake and tune.

I haven't even thought of approaching the Wife about this kit yet. It'll be a couple of years before I can so she doesn't rip my head off.

Also, AVO, the most easily attainable gas for me here is 91, is there any way or capability of turning up the boost a little more in the 91 map, or would it throw me into dangerous areas? I just know on my TT i could run upwards of 22-25 psi on 91, even though I was originally tuned for 18-20. I'm fine if its not possible, but would love a little extra power for race days, maybe 8-9 psi

1. It is not as simple as "voting for/against carb". Carb has been established (it could not go away in a year or even a decade; it is here to stay and will only get more stringent) and for all its set-backs to the tuning community really does aim to help the environment we live in which most people who are not car nuts actually want. 2. It is not as simple as moving your whole family away from other family, friends, jobs, school and well...home. Most people have ties here and call california is ... home. You don't just leave so you can have a illegally-modified car or so you can have 93 octane. Come on...

As stated earlier, the limit for boost is 5psi with the OEM map sensor. Therefore you wouldnt be able to turn up the boost anyways with the stage 1 kit. More boost = higher chance of detonation especially with 91 octane. Not worth the risk IMO especially with a high compresson open deck motor. |

AVO, you've mentioned a few time you recommend fine tuning after install. Does this mean the AVO dealers have access to an unlocked tune?
Or do we basically need to throw out all your hard work on the tune and start from scratch? (That would be a shame) |
