If you need me to go down there with you one day bro I will. You already know how I feel about this dealership after all the B.S I dealt with.

Finally, some good news!

There was an electrical component that malfunctioned resulting in the start button and steering wheel lock being unresponsive. The part was shipped overnight to the dealer and has been replaced.

According to the SOA rep, the car is running and the Subaru engineer has test driven the car to make sure it's running properly. I should be able to pick up my car tomorrow once it's reassembled.

The SOA rep is due to follow up next week after I get to spend some time driving the car to ensure it's still running properly and we can discuss some kind of compensation at that point.

You should absolutely bring your car in when you can.

With that said, you should be keep in mind that any and every dealership will need to be able to replicate the problem you're experiencing before they can actually make a repair attempt because they won't be able to pinpoint potential sources of the problem.

Well, it looks like things are going to get worse before they get better.

I went to pick up my BRZ after calling the dealer for the umpteenth time (not once have I received a call to update me through this whole ordeal). They said the car would start, they pulled the car out, it started fine with both keys.

I pull off the lot really happy and then I notice my alignment is off - the steering wheel is basically pointed to 10:00 in order for the car to travel straight and the Traction Control and ABS lights are on and stay on. I actually turned off the car and restarted it and the lights were off...until the car started moving.

I drove a total of 5 miles between leaving the dealer lot and having to drop it off again. I've tried to be patient and understanding through the teething problems, but this is getting ridiculous.

I've been asking myself the same question. My guess is they were referring to the car actually starting up repeatedly.

They put 8 miles on the car - I was able to figure it out in about 1/4 of a mile. I am absolutely dumbfounded.

Hopefully the last repair update:

The tech removed the steering wheel from the steering column while trying to diagnose the cause of the issue. When it was reinstalled, it was installed off center (which is why it appeared the alignment was off).

The car was driven an extra 8 miles or so and the Traction Control and ABS lights are fine. Apparently, they were triggered by the off-center steering wheel.

The car is finally back in my possession and the car is running great. So glad to be able to drive it again.

So they lied when they said it was test driven. I would go there and raise hell. I would ask to speak directly to the person who test drove it, when they say no you cant do that, I would let them know that someone is not doing their damn job and they are about to loose a customer. Id tell them that in my line of work when someone lies about doing their job they get fired. Im sure there are plenty of out of work mechanics that are qualified to take a job at this dealershit. < see what I did there.

Glad to see you finally found closure to this, and that the problems were relatively simple fixes. Sounds like you got the lucky pick of a poorly trained and poorly run delaership, it's pretty ridiculous that it took so long. Good luck with your negotiations with the SoA rep...

I received a call from the Subaru rep to follow up and was provided with the following:
  • 1 month's payment
  • Gold Plus Added Security Extended Service Contract (7-year/100,000-mile/$0 deductible)
  • 2-year/24,000-mile maintenance plan

Overall, I'm am very pleased with how proactive Subaru of America has been to try and make me whole again. This definitely makes me feel much better about my purchase after the heartburn with the initial starting problems.

Sounds good!
My coworker brought a Chevy cuz, it broke down in a week and was in dealer 2 weeks and claimed it was fixed. Well it broke down again in 2 days and dealer still cannot fix it after another 2 weeks. In the end, they only replace another car with identical equipment and no other compensation. she lost one month payment and down time.
