i hear ya! i have a deal,(if it's still available,that is) from another dealer on a frs
the difference, from a money perspective,is $800.00 more for the brz (premium).i do appreciate the subtle differences, but basically the cars are identical from all other angles, and are both made in the same factory.now,IF i could be assured the brz ,over time would be worth more from a resale perspective, then i wouldl grab the brz in a heart beat, but i just don't know that, unless i gamble, and take the plunge! so to speak! comments?..thanks!

BRZ Nav is a point in favor of getting a Scion, if you ask me.
It annoys me quite a bit more than all my previous Subaru Navs combined.

The HIDs alone are worth the $800, but I'm a bit biased. Even if the features were identical, I would have paid an $800 premium for the BRZ because I like the styling a bit better and I'm not too fond of having a scion badge on the car.

In reality, get whichever one you like more. $800 over the life of a car is nothing.

After buying the BRZ the wife like the Nav so we just put an Alpine in her Lancer. The Alpine is lightyears better than the BRZ nav unit. If I didn't already have it, I would have bought the Alpine too. If you're factoring money...we were able buy it/have it installed at a reputable shop otd for $1100.

Personally, I love all the extras that come with the BRZ Limited. But one of them was the absolute deal breaker between buying the FR-S (or the base BRZ)...the toggle switch climate control. I absolutely think it changes the look of the interior by leaps and bounds. Some may not care, but coming from a few luxury cars, it just looks so much more upscale.

Keyless, push to start, spoiler, and fogs are only on the more expensive limited model. I believe he is asking the differences between the base BRZ and FR-S.

What discount are you referring to? I was not aware of any from Subaru. Toyota/Scion offers a $1k rebate to new grads and military personnel.

Seeing as I am ex military, not current active duty, and I am not a recent grad, I am talking only about being able to negotiate the price of the car. Scion has that 'pure price' crap, which I translate to (we don't haggle, so everyone pays the same). Markup on scions is in line with other cars of similar pricing, so you aren't getting great deal IMO.

I got $600 off the price of the car. Paid $250 for documentation.
I was offered $1000 of of an BRZ Limited with AT.

Also,

the quotes for insurance on a BRZ vs a FRS

The BRZ quotes I get save me from anywhere from $20-100 a month, just saying.

Got ya.. I got also got $600 off from MSRP however I had to get mine from another state. Seems like most people (based on poll from another forum) are getting them at MSRP but if you can get it for under, that's great.

I have a BRZ and the nav is fine for me, atleast not worth upgrading right now, but if your buying a new one anyway just go with aftermarket, you will get a much better unit with more features for much less. I personally recommend Pioneer.

I really wouldn't worry about the cost difference (for me insurance ran the same)...you should touch, feel, see both cars before deciding, if you're that "on the fence." My guess is if you're even considering the numbers, you want the BRZ but you don't want to feel like a putz for paying more for what is supposed to be the "same" car. Get the one you want...haters are going to hate no matter which one you get, so what's a few thou?
