does anyone know what this standard navigation "head" unit costs in the brz?
was curious because it appears it is the only difference between the two
cars,other than cosmetic differences!..comments? thanks!

was just wondering if anybody knows what this "standard"
navigation "head" unit costs? it is basically the only "major" difference between
the two cars,(other than cosmetic differences!) comments? thanks!

There's also Hid headlights, I think they're quite nice. 'Fraid I don't know the cost of the nav unit, but really, it's nothing special. Don't use that as a deciding factor. It's really the sum of the small differences that defines the BRZ. I'm sure someone else with more knowledge in this area can give you a good cost estimate.

Navigation unit of that class is usually sold for $400-500 MSRP. HID lights, LED DRLs and some other small things also cost money. I suspect at the end of day you will save on insurance rates if you get BRZ over FR-S, due to general demographic difference of customers' base.

it's garbage, just get something aftermarket like pioneer.

I find it to be acceptable. Works pretty well. Operates smoothly. Not perfect, but this isn't a luxury car. I'm happy with it and won't be replacing it, maybe not even if I upgrade the system.

And don't forget you can get a discount on the BRZ vs. FR-S.

I was surprised at how low the insurance increase was - I expected more
I'm insuring my previous car (WRX) and the BRZ for ~ $100 a month

I need advice on putting my car up for three months: how long before the battery goes dead, how often to run the engine and for how long? Change oil? Gas treatment?

Stabil in the gas tank, run it for 10 minutes to get it through the system. Battery tender on the battery and you should be good.

in your opinion, would you say there is more than $800.00 worth of differences?
also, can you be more specific on what benefit from an insurance perspective, you are referring to, by living in a different location?
i'm a little confused by that!..thanks!

yes! i got one lined up for $1,000.00 off m.s.r.p. but it isn't "true "invoice"
as actual invoice is around $24,317.00,so 25,317.00 to me. on a $26,317.00 car. i believe the difference in money is attributed to the "nav" head unit on the premium model, and the hid headlights, and l.e.d drl's too! the difference to me is around $800.00 more out the door! i guess i wonder if this is a good deal! kinda curious! thanks!

I'd say it's definitely worth the premium to get the BRZ over the FR-S. A few of the things are personal opinion, such as the different front bumper, different seat material, different seat stitching, different dash panel texture, etc. Most agree though that the BRZ has much better designed headlights and DRL's over the FR-S, as well as HID's, and factory navigation.

Personally, it's these subtle differences in the BRZ that really make this car what it was designed to be.

A $1000 discount is great at this time. A few dealers are marking them up. Many are holding to list price. I was able to get $600 off and felt great about that.

The BRZ vs. FR-S major differences as already noted: HID's, LED DRL's, XM/DIVX/NAV head unit. Throw in suspension tuning and apparently faster around a race track according to one comparison I saw posted here. I would say the Limited is even better with the upgrades for another $2K.
