We should be sure to try it with the different intakes and tunes available as well...

You are incorrect, only the hood is Aluminum. I just tested all three with a magnet, the trunk lid and roof are definitely magnetic, most likely steel.

Interesting tidbit, stainless steel is not magnetic.

Some is, some isn't. Depends upon the alloy.

Ask Rev. Al Sharpton what Skittles are. He'll tell you that skillets can dent your roof.

You are correct, I was a bit narrow in my focus. 300 series stainless is normally non-magnetic because of the amount of nickel and chromium in the alloys, while other series (400 series, for example) definitely are magnetic.

Article for more information (its a good read and makes for a good understanding) HERE

However, to get back to cars, using a stainless steel for our panels is a bit expensive. The steel in our cars is basic, "Carbon" steel, which is decidedly magnetic.

That's pretty brutal.

Other than a thick vinyl roof wrap... not really sure what else is out that's available.

Maybe a CF overlay? Just brainstorming. (though I think someone said something like this already)

better include smarties, and add sub-zero temps. That only works for the candies, though. Unicorn poop sublimes below 10F.

Two weeks after I purchased my BRZ a ran into a hail storm with pea size and bigger hail. Pounded my car for 8-10 minutes. Not a dent!

STi and WRX roofs are made of steel as well.

The only body panel that is aluminum on those in the US is the hood on the 04-07 STI. Even the new STIs have steel hoods.
