I don't need CARB approval either and while it will add to the cost it will also add a lot of sales in California which would help justify it as a business case. Unfortunately for us that don't need it we will end up paying more so the Cali guys can get CARB approval if they actually do try to get it certified.

They won't but they should only build that cost in the price for units sold in California, leave the rest of us alone.

CARB regulations effect way more than just California. There is something like 16 states that will have or be in the process of adopting the regulations. The do it anyway and don't get caught that people living in non CARB states is a bit ridiculous.

Holy hell-monkeys of Hell-Monkey Island... do you guys even LISTEN to yourselves?! Entitled much?!

Vortech will release information when it suits them. It's called "marketing". They're kind enough to give us a heads up that they've developed something for our cars, but aren't going to give it all away before SEMA. Theyd be dumb to do so.

And for everyone bitching and moaning about, "Waah... why do I have to pay for Californians CARB certification!"... let me give you a little economics lesson. California has the most licensed drivers in the country; nearly as many as the next two most driver-dense states put together. I don't have statistics handy, but I'd wager the mild climate in Southern California also means there's a higher density of sports cars than someplace like New York or Denver. What this means is that a VERY large percentage of potential customers for Vortech are all right there in California (if one goes by population percentage alone: 12% of customers. Given the factors I listed above, I'd say closer to 20-25%). This is to say nothing of other states that use CARB regulations as well.

Now, do you REALLY want Vortech to skip out on CARB certification, and lose over 20% of their customers? Because, ya know, they'd have to make those losses up elsewhere... and ultimately, you'll end up with a crappier product that costs more. Congratulations.

Eventually, all of us will be subject to California's regulations...'course...by then, California will have even more draconian regs, that the rest of us will get in time. California is the Jones, always staying ahead while all the other states (and federal) try to keep up. I don't see it as completely negative, I don't want to breath the smog they have in LA.

Looking forward to seeing how the complete package looks, and performs. I don't expect a torque curve (tabletop?) like AVO but a smooth power delivery peaking around 240-250 would be the bees knees. Also curious what the fuel efficiency will be like.

I know this is a teaser thread, and it's totally got me frustratedly looking forward to SEMA, but I still can't help but be pretty psyched about a Vortech kit. Thumbs up!

Very nice. Now I just need the power numbers and tuning details and price so I can start the check writing process

BTW. The black look is awesome. Any chance you guys can offer, at least as an option, the IC anodized or PCed in flat black too?
