It should that would be $5k more than the tC, CorollaS, MatrixS. What is the $5k paying for? The idea?

Bah, how did I work that extra "is" into that sentence? Now you've quoted it and made it impossible to fix!

Wait up people want more torque now? In another thread people complained about how the Civic Si got a displacement increase for more torque and had a lower redline...

I wouldn't be too concerned about torque though, technology is on a roll and we'll see valve timing stuff that enables minimal low end torque sacrifices while preserving high end power.

Besides, how slow do you get on a track? I thought first gear usually tops out in the 40s (mph) so if your speed isn't too much below that torque isn't really an issue? Max. torque by itself means pretty little imo, the actual acceleration depends on the gear ratios. (of course this is assuming good gearing) From a theoretical perspective a "flat" powerband is a bit of an engineering fail since the faster the engine spins the more power it should be able to make...that is of course without a turbo or something that screws up the relatively constant max. torque of an N/A engine.

1st gear in a 6spd 4 cyl compact is like 30-35mph efficiently producing power depending on car.

Less revs same power and more tq isn't bad. The AP2 Honda S2200 did it.

Yep. There's no replacement for displacement. Especially when said displacement doesn't chance the size or weight of the engine.

Perrrrhaps. But the new miata doesn't look as amazing as I'd like it to be. Haha. Although the car is cute. :P

I've had my 6 speed manual (only options missing are the leather seats and nav) on a scale and it was 3089 with a 3/4 full tank of gas.

Yes, of course, and I'm one of the people who wants this car with Subaru's turbo 2.0L. But we were talking about N/A performance.
