Sorry for hijack, getting my stereo installed today at Insane in castle hill, the guy recommends the mongoose based sound deadened because he claims it's identical to dynamatt but half price, how does the focal product compare in price ?

Yes you can, there is loads of space there, the 86 project sound car I saw today has special pods made to accept such a speaker.

Thanks mate, but would that make the doors vibrate a lot? Would it still sound decent?

I would definitely recommend it. I've got my doors and boot sound deadened and still, the doors vibrate just a little bit at that magic frequency. And that's with woofers in the doors (not subwoofers).

Dude, I'm confused now lol.
I thought you were talking about 6.5" subwoofers in the rear doors? Lol. I know Kicker make them... but would this be a mistake?

By rear speakers you mean the ones on the sides in the back seat right? It will take a bit of work to make it sound good because of huge void behind there, a decent sheet of deadener and a proper pod/closed box will sound great but will cost $$$$$

In a car this small, deadened front doors and rear boot/shelf, 8-10"" sub and a decent component/woofer combo will sound amazing. These guys today are doing 4 subs in the boot alone LOL

First of all, there are no rear doors. =P
Personally, I don't have anything in the rear. The two stock speakers that were there before have been taken out.
It's also important to understand the difference between a "woofer" and a "sub woofer". Woofers handle the low-mid (about 100-500Hz range). As you may have guessed, a sub woofer handles everything below 100Hz. (Or there abouts.)

You can get 6.5" woofers and you can get 6.5" SUB woofers. But they are NOT the same thing.
I think you are after 6.5" sub woofers in the rear correct? This can be done, but you'll have to make cuts in the panels to fit them.

Coz I'm a bit of a n00b with audio, it you go to jb hifi, why don't they suggest "woofers" as well if they are important?
I bought a component set of Jl audio fronts... other than that, I was just going to get a Jl audio sub in the boot. But I think now they are too big. I don't like a lot of "doof doof" ... but I heard the "mono block" shaped subs are useless lol. Thoughts?

I am still yet to find a 6.5in "sub" that will play low enought to really be concidered a "sub woofer"

1 x 10in sub is more than enough, esp if you get something of decent quality.
I had an RE SX10 in my Eunos for a while, had 1kw going into it. probably could have doubled that and it would have been fine, it was plenty loud enough.
the single 12in OZ sub i had in was even better, esp with 5kw going into it

Dont just go jump on in and buy what ever.. do some reserch.
otherwise you end up buying crap, going back and buying more crap.
buy right the first time.
