The carbon shaft will hold up forever unless you bang the shaft on something hard it should never fail on you. The steel ujoints will however fail sometime but more than likely after the car has broken down already.

So....Carbon Fibre Driveshafts....

I changed my 300zx to an alluminium 1pce shaft (stock 2-pce), but as I did it as part of a conversion from AT to MT (including lightened flywheel) it's hard to tell how much impact just the shaft had.

Anyone doing this mod is going to get some noticable benefit and if they feel that warrants the cost of the shaft then it is money well spent

I would be curious to try out a car that had one back to back. I installed one on my '05 STI and the results were excellent.

This AT owner is interested* in CF DS development...

*I know some people think ATs are not worth the time to modify and I am not here to disagree with you, everybody is entitled to their own opinion(s). Please let's not take the thread off track. Thanks!! :-)

From aluminum to CF? You would notice just about nothing. I'm surprised no one has mentioned what a massive waste of money this is. If you're running 8's or less it can be more beneficial than aluminum or nice if you show your car, otherwise, money down the drain.

Based on the final drive ratio, the drive shaft spins and has to accelerate/decelerate over 4x faster then the wheels/tires. The effective radius of the rotating mass is, of course, much greater on the wheels/tires than it is on the driveshaft.

Either way, having less mass to propel and change the speed of is always a good thing.
