So, because it won't change body roll his other observations become just as void IMO. as for hating, it's his car and he can do what he wants, but lets try to avoid misinformation that could cause people to dump a bunch of money into parts for no gain. I do believe some braces MAY be beneficial on this chassis, but I want to see some proof before I buy. Hopefully nameless will test it eventually

I would love to see some measurements of chassis flex at various loads points of this chassis (with and without bracing).
If that was on a 300hp car with sticky tyres and upgraded suspension and bushings, all the better. Bracing can make a massive difference, but the only effect it can have on body roll is to actually increase it. |

If you take away chassis flex then the suspension is forced to do more of it's job, which means the force that used to be flexing the chassis is now force being handled by the suspension. In a corner that would mean more work being done by the outside shocks/springs, and since they haven't become stiffer automatically they'll be compressed more meaning more body roll.

Grimmspeed claims in slalom tests, their strut tower bar reduced strut tower deflection from 0.18-inch to 0.03-inch (http://www.grimmspeed.com/strut-tower-brace-brz-fr-s/). Whether or not that is true or exaggerated is not my point, just fyi.
The stiffness allows the suspension to do it's job, and chassis flex MAY lessen the effectiveness of the factory sway bar. That said, unlike the Grimmspeed, the Cusco bar is hinged, so one can expect it to work slightly less effectively. To the OP and supporters, you can say it feels stiffer and more responsive and you're likely correct. You can say it feels like it rolls less and I believe you to be honest. It does feel that way to you... but a strut tower bar doesn't directly serve that function. Unless your sensitivity to body roll has a resolution of <0.15-inch or better. :respect: |
