It was definitely a blast! 5 FR-S and 1 BRZ I was not expecting that many. We were well represented

My son and I are planning to be at the next event in November. I think I'll be able to convince him to co-driver my FR-S this time. His v6 A/T Mustang doesn't really cut it, but at least he did get an idea of its limits.

It's a very nice group of people, too. Very rookie friendly. My son and I had instructors ride with us each run to give tips and analysis after each the run.

My son and I also asked to ride along with some of the more experienced drivers and they were more than happy to oblige. I rode in a Porsche Boxster and a seriously modded Corvette - those guys REALLY showed me how it's done AND why you do need to wear a helmet in autocross

It was great meeting Michael and Ragha in person. Didn't meet everyone but there's always future events

^ Oooh, very nice... I was almost tempted to drive all the way over there and join in, since I was absolutely so bored over the weekend (wife and kids are still out of town, and no track events for that weekend).

I was actually deciding last minute on Friday / Saturday, but then I spotted that the registration had closed already some days prior (via your website link provided).

Oh well, I sat back and envied you all for the time being...

It was nice to meet everyone, and great FRS/BRZ turnout. It was nice talking about our new cars and how we enjoy them.

My performance was not great, but this event was great experience in a relatively new car. I'm used to driving an old FWD Civic so I tried experimenting with the BRZ at this event. 1st run was slow and smooth. 2nd run tried VSC Sport ON and that slowed me down. 3rd run I tried shifting to second gear really late on the first turn and caused the back end to slide out. 4th run just pushed too hard and spun out. Either way I had fun racing!

Yes I do have Dunlop starspecs on the stock wheels.

You don't have to pre-register for events. You can show up the morning of the event and signup. Only difference is that it helps the organizers when people signup early, and it's $5 cheaper when you pre-register.

Oh, okay... I see... I wasn't too familiar with how these kind of events work since I'm usually used to signing-up for road course DE events which tend to turn you away if the registration has closed / spots are filled.

I should've PM'd one of you guys for the info as soon as the urge kicked in, lol.

Mine is an automatic and I kept the Sport and VSC Sport buttons on and the shifter in manual mode. So based on your experience with VSC Sport mode, I am definitely going to turn off ALL nannies next time.

MY biggest problem is braking - I didn't do it soon enough or hard enough and I ended up understeering big time, plowing through those turns like a bulldozer, scrubbing speed. Did it on every run. That will be my focus next event.

My third run was actually a DNF which they didn't catch for some reason - I missed the second gate at the very beginning so I went for broke and lost it in the giant slalom. Way fun!

I mean I had VSC OFF every run but traction control ON. Next time traction control goes OFF also. I'm just saying NO to the nannies!

Glad to see such a good turn out of FR-S/BRZs. I'm Chris and ran the Asphalt FR-S, but I've been autocrossing with the Houston Region for about 6 years now. It was always in AWD cars before, mostly in a Mazda Speed6, so switching to rear wheel drive was a bit of a change. My car is all stock except I have a set of Kosei's with 215 Dunlops on them. There is a ton of room to improve in this car and it should be able to really compete I think. I will be running RTR when it rolls out, but until then I'll be in CS. Hope to see everyone out there again in November!

Congrats on your performance! Way to give us rookies something to shoot for. One of the instructors that I had ride with me told me you were a great driver
