A lot of it is about having confidence and the correct tools for the job. It also helps to have a good set of instructions and some torque specs as well. This is just a simple unbolt and bolt on installation. It's not like an engine rebuild there you have to measure stuff in the thousandths, balance things, or have specialty tools that can cost big bucks.

In other words...

I wonder what the cost of this will be without the ECUTek license and possibly the tune. I already have the license and cable. I might just hire John to do the tuning.

seeing how the ECUtek license is extra, I'd say $3800

Geez, miss a couple days and miss a lot! That dyno chart looks amazing! And the car sounds sick. What else is going on with that exhaust besides the UEL header?

Love the powerband and like others have said this probably fits the bill for 75% of the guys out there. One question, the car is in Japan so is the current dyno tuning being done on their Premium fuel?

I would definitely have the car tuned specific to your car after installing the kit.

From what I can tell, I will charge $600-$1000 to install something like this. I won't know till we get our kit =)

At this price, I had the same thought.

Plus, got some free Southwest tickets, the East Bay is nice in fall, John...

If I could he off work I'd volunteer to help to learn for my install. Admittedly I would be just an extra set if hands.

That dyno is pretty damn excellent, especially with the mid power dip delete.

All my past turbo cars were factory turbo, so replacing turbos and supporting parts was a lot more plug and play plus tuning... With a factory non turbo car, whats the standard in terms of warrantying the work? Assuming all the parts are all fine, and free of defects from the mfg, is there any sort of protection if a shop screws something up during install that causes damage? I know you can't speak for all shops, but what are the reasonable expectations?

If the standard is "as is" with no protection, then i'll be doing my own install and taking my sweet time.

Meh, no need to pitch in, I seriously have some free tickets heh Even still if need be we can all figure it out.

The main question is, which shop in NorCal would install a turbo kit on a FT86?
