heated mirrors?
Hi, does anyone know if you can add the heated mirror function of the BRZ to an FRS? Has anyone seen a tutorial for that?
thanks G |

I'm starting to look into it (however I want to do just the mirrors, not the power folding pieces). They would end up connecting to the rear window defogger circuit.

Heat comes on canadian and BRZ with heated seats, the heated part should be relatively easy, if you're not planing to sell them retail all you need is a tiny heating pad (or any DIY resistor combination that does not exceed a few watts) on the back of the mirror and an on/off switch. I bet replacement glass for the BRZ won't be that expensive either.

Same here.
My last car was an Impreza 2.5i that 'didn't' come with heated mirrors. When I had the door cards off I plugged the mirror heaters in and they worked perfectly for the four years I had the car. It might be worth looking to see if the plugs are there. |

They are actually very fast for the mirrors. Hasn't been cold enough to test how well the seat warmers work in these cars.

You are correct. I got to test them out this morning. They work fast on fog, so they should be good for ice too...nice.

I have the BRZ Limited. I am not sure if the premium model or US Spec FR-S come standard. If it doesn't you should be able to source the heated mirrors and the wiring should be in the door, gauging from how these cars are optioned.

In my case they are already hooked up. They turn on with the rear defrost button.
