Just ask Fullblown about how much better S2K's run with 3" systems.

Sorry, that is not untrue. An "exception" to the rule is not the "norm". And I'm sure you "gain" in comparison to stock. But I doubt you gain from a 2.5 system to a 3 on a 2.0L 4banger as being the normal case. I see no evidence of that to call that the norm.

Just a quick google search: here's a K20 dyno 2.5" vs 3.0". The 3.0" made power over the 2.5" over the entire power band.
http://forums.clubrsx.com/showthread.php?t=583274
I could show you many more dyno's, but I don't want this to get way off topic.

Go back and read my post again and because I think you missed the context of it. This is not a new thing you know. It's a pretty common understanding.

Side note: Thread in link list...
Stock from valve cover to oil pan
RBC manifold
11" intake with velocity stack/filter combo
Tri-Y long tube header
3" Thermal exhaust
Tuned with K-Pro on my shop's dyno

Hardly just a 3 inch exhaust thrown onto a 100% stock car.

To be honest, it only needed another 5% fuel all over generally speaking. VTEC engagement moved down alot, too, so the high cam VTC map needed ALOT of adjustment.

Ummm...yea.

Forgive the novice question but is this kit working with the standard compression ration or has something been done on the engine to lower compression?

If the compression ration is std, is this a concern at all or is the boost low enough for compression not to be an issue?

Thanks
Brian

This stage 1 kit does not state anything about replacing engine internals... just bigger injectors / fuel pump. I don't see anything worrisome about this amount of boost on this high compression motor (properly tuned of course). As I was trying to say earlier, I ran 16psi successfully for three years on a high compression 4 cylinder import on pump gas with zero issues. Yes, the compression on this motor is higher, but this is really not a crazy amount of boost.

I heard the 3" exhaust in person yesterday and it sounded amazing. It was a very deep rumble, no rasp or nasal tone. I didn't get a chance to closely inspect it but I told Joe the next time I'd get a better look at it.

Way to go LJ and the team!

What people need to understand is the amount of new technology going into casting processes/forgings and coating and piston design allowing us to run higher compression stock engine with some decent boost without worry. Back in the day you were dealing with worse designs and powdercast rods blowing up with adding just 50hp. Today is much different. Good for us!

looks good, I'm almost 99% sure this is the kit I'm going to go with now. Let me know when you have pricing worked out for e85 and launch control. I am just waiting to see what else is coming out during SEMA.

We are working on packages to trim the cost of the kits for those who don't want all the bells and whistles. For example, we will have a kit that consist of a 38mm wastegate, t3 housing, and the standard gt28 turbo. The kit will still make 300-400hp easily.
