Looks epic!! That's a quality job man, very nice!
![]() I got a quote for mine on saturday, custom FG enclosure + 2 12" subs for $1k.. Still thinking about it. I've already done all the wiring to my amp and *JUST* fit the smallest slimline 12" sub that I could find in on an angle. Took me about 7 hours to get it all done with many smoke breaks and being very careful with everything. No OEM cables were cut ![]() Overall so far, I'm very happy with it! I know it could be a lot better with an aftermarket headunit and some more quality parts.. but I'm just stoked that I have some decent bass for a change. The stock speakers actually aren't too bad now that I've cut the low end out of them.

![]() So far, my brake light is fine - It's my rear view mirror that vibrates like a bitch on a few real bass heavy tracks.. Haha I still want to get rid of that brake light though, the position of it still pisses me off -_- |

[QUOTE=Nezz;468180]I'm currently installing an upgraded system in my daily so that I don't get tempted to drive the 86 everywhere. Total installation time will probably top 24 hours as I'm basically taking it right back to the wire with a bass speaker, self-contained sub, splits in the front, splits in the back roof-- All with a bare minimum of visible cable... Seriously, if you do this stuff right it takes a long, long, long time, and you have to be confident in your workmanship.
QUOTE] It took me 3 months working weekends and from the time i got home from work to 10pm each night to install the stereo in my old Cordoba. All it had was a pair of 6.5in splits, one 10in sub and one amp.. But it included everything from sound deadening most of the car, cabling, building the sub box, wich had glass back and mirrors inside i cut myself. custom door pods, new false floor and amp rack, more glass. custom trims etc.

I just thought I would share my current design. I have an old Kicker S10L7 Solobaric sub and amp floating around the garage. I thought I would see if I can install it into the 86. I have designed the height allowing for the donut in the boot. Here is the sketchup design so far.

Looking good. Mind sharing how you cabled it? I'm interested to know how you wired in the sub. Did you disconnect the rear speakers and run them in to the high level input on the amp? Or did you do something else?

If you're after something just a little better than stock, I'd suggest buying a 10" sub and a small amp to run it. If you don't care for the stock HU, buy something aftermarket. Even a cheapo $200-300 one will sound better than the stock one.

If you want to keep the HU stock, buy a processor. Mine cost $200. I've never used one before, but wow... This thing very versatile! You're able to set crossovers to all your speakers as well as EQ each of them. It's got this feature where you set the distance from each speaker to a desired "centre" point (usually the driver) and it will automatically set delays so that the sound reaches the "centre" at the same time. I've been playing with is for days now. So cool!
