I'm okay with the headlights so far... but yeah, if those tails stay I'll be getting red overlays on them asap.

Yeah way less tacky than chrome. Rims look better with it, exhaust systems on motorcycles look better with it, pretty much anything that anybody would ever want to chrome looks better in flat black. I strongly dislike "jewel" style headlights.

Note that I do NOT mean the plastic headlight case...I mean the internal parts that so many cars have chromed out now. spraying all of the inner surfaces which do not need to be reflective for functionality makes the headlights look so much better.

I know what you mean, like the Honda guys do to make their lights 'JDM'.

you could always color match them to the rest of the car like the C6 Corvette

I've seen a lot of Z owners do that too... looks pretty good imo. I just couldn't bring myself to put my headlights in the oven.

I disagree that chome is purely tacky on it's own, too much chrome especially plastic chrome is just plain tacky IMHO.

^ These would make any Z look evil.

I think I'll end up being ok with the production tail lights, but I just don't like the shape. I loved the MkII's tail lights, but the rest of the concepts' were all over the place, so I guess it was foolish to expect something that would make everyone happy. Heck, the Saturn Sky's don't even look too bad.

Sky > Solstice - looks (but that because it's near identical to the Opel)

Solstice > Sky - weight

Yeah, I agree. The Sky was much better looking, but hopefully the FR-S won't have to sacrifice weight as well.

The concept tail lights may be awesome, but probably not that practical to produce or maintain. We don't know that the concept tails would have met DOT regulations as they were.

I just wish they could do a better job, the front lamps are great and almost like the concept but the tails have like no effort put in to them. It's like they could only make the fronts or the tails identical to the concept- not both I'm guessing for a cost cap.
