I hit a metal pipe that was in the middle of the highway a few weeks ago and quoted a new painted bumper from my dealer.

$299 for an unpainted bumper cover
$16 for the drivers side fog light plastic insert,
$305 for paint
$126 install labor

I don't know what your deductible is but it may be cheaper just to purchase a new painted bumper and put it on yourself. It's not very difficult, there is a DIY.

Sports mode, in my opinion, can save your butt before going into an unintended slide. Nannies completely off + some counter steer + skills, can make the drift thing work...
Sorry about your loss. Hope it won't cost too much to be back onto the road.

Sorry to hear the bad news.

Can you give us some info about yourself: First rwd car? Previous rides? Age?

Good luck with the repair and save it for closed courses (rock free)

I've been there. Thought I could show off to my passenger going around a low-speed, tight corner on my street. Induced more oversteer than I could correct, spun and bumped a tree and cracked the front lip on my MR2 Turbo. How embarrassing! I was going about 15-20mph.

How long did it take for the dealership to do everything? My bumper came defective from the factory and the dealership wants my vehicle for four days to get a new bumper painted/installed..........

I actually decided not to get a new bumper since the damage was barely noticeable after some touchup paint. Just a small crack at the bottom and some paint scratches.

This is my first RWD car. Previous vehicle was a 2006 SI, I'll be 23 in Nov.

I'll end going through insurance mostly because of the AC condenser. The AC still works fine but I wouldn't trust it for long. My deductible is $500 with USAA so I'll be making a claim. Pricing so far from the dealer was about $400 for the bumper, $56 for the plastic underbody pan (which was ripped off) no estimate on paint yet.

I'm also lucky all the front lights are just fine. I drove the car today and everything seems mechanically sound. I'm so relieved I didn't bend the frame or anything that catastrophic. Car doesn't even need an alignment, still drives perfectly straight. This was still rough for me but I am VERY lucky that's all that was damaged. I just have to worry about getting it fixed pretty soon since I have to drive back to GA on the 8th.

Is the grille two separate halves? The breaks in the horizontal bars look suspiciously clean and perfectly centered.

Edit - Also try going to a body shop and ask for estimates for both insurance repair and private repair. A lot of times they'll have a lower rate for non-insurance repairs.

And here come the rate increases for BRZ owners. My USAA payment each month only dropped about $8 going from a 2012 Porsche Cayman R to my BRZ.

Yeah, sorry about that Tut. You can blame me for being a part of the reason.

Aetyrno, the rock was more of thin slab of sandstone rather than a boulder. About a foot high and 3ft in diameter. I was lucky I struck it right in the middle instead of busting out a fog light AND the bumper. Also potentially damaging the suspension or frame.

Did it happen in Cleveland or down in Georgia? I know it has been raining around here today. I have seen that front bumper covers sell for $320. Then you have to get it painted to match. Hopefully nothing else is bent under there. You need to check so you do not cause additional (expensive) problems. Good luck with your repairs.
Mine has damage to both bumpers Although it's rock chips up front (and a piece of wood flying from under a truck..) and my own stupity on the rear bumper.

No "crashes" yet for me.

My BRZ is MORE expensive than a FR-S with State Farm already, more than an ITR, double an NSX, etc. I can't fathom it being any more expensive!

I wonder if it's sky high because they know all these fwd guys are buying it because they want to experiment with drifting. Lmao....

Don't take my comment serious even tho it holds a bit of truth
