Anyways carbonblue, all out track car I dunno, 6th gear will become semi-useful with a 5:1 diff but the ratios are a little far apart. If you had an S2000 transmission that would be about right for a super impractical car for the track

These are cool engines. Best application for it yet is an 07 Honda F1 chassis.

I was actually thinking about this very engine the other day XD
Came to the following bogus mathematical conclusion: H1V8 + FR-S = Supercar |

245 ft-lbs at 7,500rpm, not terribly impressive. I still stand by that that engine is a waste in something as heavy as our cars, it was developed for fairly lightweight (well under 2,000lbs) tube chassis race vehicles. Plus for the cost of $30k (new) or $15k-$18k (used) it isn't that great of a deal. For that sort of money there are plenty of other options, including building up the FA20 to get all the power you could want (maybe not 400 but 300 could be possible with the right parts). If RPM's are your thing then maybe a Mazda rotary would be more to your liking.

Not really. Drift cars need a power in mid rpm (4~6k rpm) vs this sounds like more of F1 style engine setup, so prob ton of power will kick in around 6k & up rpm

If only we could get a small, lightweight, good CoG, super torquey motor. Hmmm maybe Forza has something.

Then just pop a SC in. SC is somewhat good drift setup. Has a ton of tq in low end & mid that you need to start tail happy. Small/mid size turbo is awesome... but space on this car isn't great lol

The FA20 pretty much can't hit those power levels no matter what you do to it while keeping NA. Sure superchargers add great power but this engine not only adds power, it probably slashes weight off the front end too, which is important. |

![]() plus having a 5:1 gears you also have a wider rev range to drift/race in for instance you can use most of third through a corner vs only being able to use the top of 2nd with 4.1:1 gears banging off the limiter to hold a drift plus with 5:1 gears you end up rowing more, and i like rowing the shit out of high rpm engines lol

Haters gonna hate,
The OP wants to be a baller, let him ball, I think it's the best motor swap idea to come out yet. some people don't understand how track cars work, I think that would be a blast to buzz around in...an absolute perfect fit for this chassis... |
