Unless its forged, I wouldn't do it. Considering just about everything forged can come in a more attractive offset, you might just want to consider other wheels. If you already have them, maybe you can just work it out with local competitors. Lots of good options in offsets that are legal for reasonable (sub $200/wheel) prices IMO.

Word, the only way I would have a set of wheels machined is if they were collecting dust in my garage. Don't buy a new set of wheels and then have them machined.

Is it true that debadging is not allowed in a stock class?
How many people actually challenge that? |

A few years back, I was running a 2011 Mustang GT in FS at a divisional in California. I finished third losing to multi-year national champion Brian Peters in his clone Shelby Mustang and his co-driver. A few people came up to me and mentioned that in order to have a 100% legal Shelby Mustang it needed to have every single piece of trim. He was missing the SHELBY letters from his trunk lid. If I wanted to be an insanely massive douche, I could have protested him and walked away with 1st and a good chunk of change. But really...come on. However, I'm sure if you showed up at nationals with one little badge missing and you won, people would be protesting you in no time. |

Heard an interesting Rumor today... That the 2014 Model will have 8" wheels... that would open up alot more options Tire Wise if that is true..

I'm only going to be racing at a local sports car club, nothing on a national level. I hope no one protests me :P

Wouldn't stock class guys in a 2013 be stuck with 7" wheels still? You couldn't do a package swap to a 2014, right?

Correct. You can't package swap to a different year.

So this might lead to 2014 onwards being classed differently for stock competition, or the 2013s being uncompetitive in comparison?
Assuming that this rumored change actually happens, which I can't really see happening so soon since 7" wheels seemed to be a very deliberate decision and doesn't seem to be hurting sales. Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2 |

You can't say for sure but probably not if that's the sole change. While it will make it faster, maybe not enough for a reclass. Don't get too hung up on rumor speculation as I had read something that said no changes at all until 2015's model year so who knows.
PS whoever said about debadging your car - if you want to do it, do it. You aren't going to get hit with a winning protest that it provided a performance advantage.

After taking a couple runs in my BRZ this weekend since swapping to good street tires I still think this car is going to have a rough time in C stock. It's specs scream CS to me, but performance thus far is lower than I expected. Time will tell. When the new models get wider wheels (yes when, not if IMO), I'll start the STX build.

Subaru isn't really known for making changes like that without some other significant changes. It took them years to bump the WRXs wheel size from 16x6.5 and that came with a new engine.
I don't see them bumping the wheel size to 17x8 next year, but I could see them offering it as an option like the BBS wheels. I still plan on racing in CS but if it turns out to be futile, STX is only a few modifications away. The one FR-S in CS at nationals wasn't too far off the pace from the other cars, and that car had no prep and I think they were only driving it because their original car broke.
