Wow so many negative comments.

The driver is not me but he is a very advanced driver who usually takes it to the track, driving well within his limits (even if the car started to slide, he could control it) and staying in his lane. If he truly was reckless he'd be double laning and drifting the entire way which he probably could with ease. He was driving comfortably, confidently, and calmly (as opposed to adrenaline pumping, "don't know what I'm doing" type of driving that actually causes accidents you see on YouTube where a crappy driver crashes even while driving much slower than this guy). He knows the road very well and was looking out for headlight projections indicating oncoming traffic as you heard him remind his passengers many times. I'm sure we all agree there is an increased risk though.

I'm sorry to those who couldn't see the lighter and positive side to the video. Seeing an FR-S being taken to the limit by a good driver and seeing what it could do is always enjoyable to me. But that's just me.

That's Turnbull Canyon i believe!

P.S.- @4:04 I believ the last hairpin before driver says "im done." In order to slide it out there you would probably need to cut that corner a little earlier, but since everyone here is such a SAFE NAZi you didnt get that from me. lol

honestly, ill admit to doing this but i only do it during the day. Night time driving increases the risk. No one here bought this car to drive slowly through traffic or to say "hey i bought a reasonably priced $25k sports car from Toytoa/Subaru." We all bought it to enjoy it. S**t! even Scion VP, Jack Hollis, addresses us as "Canyon Carvers" in his press releases so Scion obviously knows who they are selling to. I also go to track days/local tracks but you cant deny a fun drive down a secluded windy road.

Taking all the drama out of the equation...it's still a crap video. Dark, blurry, shaking camera and the passenger needs a muzzle asap...

Yes safe Nazis need to realize there are hundreds of people having fun on twisty roads every night (and day) around the world. The only difference is we chose to give you guys a glimpse of what goes on. Rare footage so to say. If people really think it's as bad as they say it is then maybe thank them for risking their lives to bring you this footage?

right but the point is that you shouldn't do it on the street because of the factors that are out of your control (you might be the best driver ever but you have no control over a deer jumping out in front of the car) and not with passengers

that is the point everyone else was trying to make

me personally, I think it's cool to cruise on nice roads and really get a feel for the car, but don't attempt to drive 10/10ths on the street, especially if you have a nice new car

Yea I agree too. The video was a very very rare instance I'm sure. For the average person it may seem like 10/10ths but it may actually be around 8/10ths for an experienced driver driving comfortably (he didn't seem smooth because he was testing out the car and giving it some inputs on purpose).

Interesting video. Op: thanks for showing me how forgiving this car is. If I need to avoid a deer midturn, I now know I have some slack with my driving technique. It was very educational for me, as I have yet to purchase this car.

But your driving could use some fine tuning. From the 2/3 of the video I watched, I saw you slow down while going into a turn, mash the throttle for a moment midturn, lift off of the throttle midturn, and very non-smooth throttle control. Try this in an s2000 (unforgiving) and you'll have a hell of a time avoiding the guardrail.

We all gotta learn somehow right? I'm sure most people with sporty cars have driven their fair share of spirited driving through twisty roads. Especially during times when there are minimal amounts of drivers on the road.

Thanks burnt toast! Yes the FR-S seems to be much more forgiving than an S2000. Kind of to add on to what you've said, an experienced driver driving spirited on twisty roads is safer than the average joe driving a rwd for the first time in the rain normally (as we have already seen from the many FR-S wrecks just from normal driving).

Btw, I now just read the post where it was mentioned that you were not the driver and the driver was experienced and testing the car's limits. Explains for the seemingly rookie driving technique. Apologies for critiquing 'your' driving technique. Reading > me
