It would be great to have both just in case some drivers prefer the classic stick and won't need to sacrifice any sleep over the choice.

Plus those Seats are pretty bolstered up on the sides!
Maybe they decided to use the wheel from the automatic model with the transmission from the manual model just to confuse us.

I'm guessing they just topped the automatic shifter with a manual-type ball to give it a sportier appearance. The S-tronic Audi TT's have a similar shifter:

I like the center mounted switches in the Celica because I can drive and steer with my left hand, shift with my right, and lower my right hand to hit the window/locks when needed while keeping my left hand on the wheel the whole time.

^-agreed. The center window switch seemed weird when I first got my celly but after a coupe days I began to question why all cars don't have them there. Plus watching people try to find the window switch on the door is just amusing in it self.

the first concept had them in the perfect place.

^B/c it was designed in europe! I'm ol skool so ultimately I'd prefer everything manual: windows, doorlocks, no power steering, a single cd w/4 5" speakers, no AC, no iPod connect, no nav, no leather etc but that might not be the case.

I've driven cars with pwr windows in both locations. I've gotten used to it being on the doors I guess. I do like the center console to have just the shifter and the e brake and maybe a storage compartment. I didn't even like the iDrive on the Bimmer.

Manual windows and locks. The two things I can't accept. Lol Imagine a little 5'0'' person rolling down the passenger or driverside window. Its a mission!

That is a car I would not buy. Atleast not a new car, maybe if it was a classic I was in love with, but that car would like be a DD, which this will be.

Where is the quote from Liquid where he mentioned that it was proposed but quickly shut down! Of course it's going to have at least the minimum: PD/PW/PS.
